VS11. Bring back the old "Pending Changes" window
The new one is very confusing!!!
I think the old one was almost perfect so why did you change it??? I mean, you can add new options but why did you change the philosophy?
The most important problems I see with the new one:
- No way to have that window independent so it can be accessed easily and fast
- Difficult to see at first sight the files changed! (of course, the new “no color” interface is part of the problem...)
- Difficult to exclude changes! (in the old one it was so easy by clicking the checkbox...)

rename project in TFS
Rename existing project in TFS
2,890 votesWe’re taking another look based on all the feedback here! As Doug pointed out, this is rather hard problem though.

Provide build configuration dependencies in TFS Build
Provide the ability to create build configuration dependencies such that the success of one build configuration can trigger another build configuration such as a successful build triggering the building of an installation package or a build configuration which deploys to a development or staging server. Other tools such as Cruise Control.Net and Jetbrains TeamCity already offer build configuration dependencies/build configuration triggering through various means, therefore, TFS Build should also provide this type of support.

Burndown chart should exclude non-work days
Including weekends and other non-work days skews the slope of the ideal tragectory line. You may leave the office on Friday looking like everything is on track only to return Monday 2 days behind. If you don't exclude those days, at least flatten the tragectory when no work is expected to be completed.

Allow for updating process templates on existing projects in TFS
To keep up with improving processes, there needs to be a migration path for existing templates to be upgraded to new templates. Some information in work items may be lost when mapping these to new work item types of the new templates, but this may well worth the benefits of moving to a newer process. Creating a new team project is not always feasible, especially if the source code versioning needs to be in place.

make it possible to move a Team Project between Team Project Collections
Currently you need to move an existing Team Project to a new Team Project Collection. I would like a feature to move Team Project between Team Project Collections without using TFS Integration Toolkit or other 3rd party tools.

Add Mercurial support to Team Foundation Server
The addition of Git support to TFS is really good news for us DVCS aficionados. However, while many teams are satisfied with it, many others find it a very contentious option due to its fairly steep learning curve, unintuitive behaviour, and at times confusing terminology.
For teams that are making their first steps into distributed version control, Mercurial may be a better option. It would be great if TFS could support both systems.

Treat TFS as an Enterprise Symbol Server
I want my Team Foundation Server instance to be the Symbol Server for the Enterprise. Visual Studio and other debugging clients could then inherently understand when it sees a TFS URL how to locate the symbols or alternately, TFS could provide a URL that exposes symbols correctly (i.e. https://tfs.mycompany.com/tfs/DefaultCollection/Symbols). For those using the Azure-based hosted Team Foundation Service solution, it provides them a publicly-accessible (with authentication) location for Symbol Server as well.
We don't need a file share any longer if you have a TFS server! Symbols could be stored and maintained using the version control system (or some…

Improve UI Workflows for Team Explorer, especially Pending Changes (in 2012)
In 2012, all the Team Explorer interfaces have been combined into a single window. This has drastically reduced the efficiency with which we can do day to day operations. For example, to merge, I have to go to the Source Control explorer (Click Team Explorer tab. Click Home. Click Source Control Explorer). Then I apply my merge. Then I have to check in (Click Team Explorer. Click Home. Click Pending Changes. W.A.I.T. Check in the files). Then the next thing needed is always to do a build. (Click Team Explorer. Click Home. Click Builds. Start the build). As you can…

create a central place to manage rights for TFS, Sharepoint and Reporting Services
Currently, I can only manage TFS rights from Visual Studio/Team Explorer. It would be very nice to have a central place, to not only manage TFS rights, but Sharepoint and Reporting Services as well.
619 votesThanks for all the feedback. We know this is a pain point for customers, and we are looking at ways to improve the management.

Switch between list view and tree view in pending changes window
I would like to see an option to toggle between the "old" flat list view of files pending changes, and the new tree view introduced in VS2012. The tree view is a good addition, however, often I find myself just looking for a quick overview of which files have changed, and for this the plain list view is easier to use.

Merge by Workitem
Allow users to select WorkItems and related changesets on Merge screen. Probably Merge candidate WIs will be required.

Provide API documentation for the customization of TFS Web Access 2012
We would like to customize TFS Web Access 2012 to add new tabs, pages and other content to support our in-house processes. We were able to do this in the previous version of TFS Web Access. But there is no info about doing so in the current version of TFS Web Access.

Hide Work Item Types (WITs) based on permission/security group
Within a team project, you should be able to specify who is allowed to create a specific Work Item Type.
A user should only see Work Item Types in the "New Work Item" menu (Team Explorer, TEE, Team Web Access), that the user is allowed to create.
412 votesActually, Neno’s idea is slightly different from what we’ve got planned for the next version. We’re planning on making some work item types (like Shared Steps) not visible in the new work item menu in clients like Visual Studio and Web, where they don’t make as much sense. Neno’s idea is definitely valid though, and goes further in customizing the creation experience.

...develop an empowering Process Template editor!!
The current editor's user experience is a barrier to process improvement through customization of of the template itself. The idea that an out of the box process template will satisfy all customer needs (or even one of the several shipped by MSFT) will be a limiting factor on meaningful and valuable implementations of the product.

New Work Item Control: Checkbox
Creating string fields with "Yes" and "No" (or "True" or "False", or "1" and "0") as allowed values, is a viable "workaround" for a Yes/No field - but still, a real checkbox control would make it even better.
btw: Checkboxes are a Windows control introduced from the very beginning (Windows 1 actually, I checked. ;)
389 votesThanks, Neno. We’re looking into this.

Work item control that allows a selection of multiple values
Having a multi-select control that work in VS, Web access, that is easy to query and populates the reporting cube would helpfull in many scenarios.
The current work around (ex: http://witcustomcontrols.codeplex.com/) is far from empassing all the above requirements

In the team Explorer, Change Default State value of a selected Work Item to "Associate" instead of "Resolve" on Check In
In the team Explorer, Change Default State value of a selected Work Item to Associate instead of Resolve on Check In. In VS 2012, our team often closed the work item because Team explorer Automatically chooses Resolve instead of Associate in team Explorer. Its really Annoying. In most scenarios, the developer is going to associate lots of check ins for a task. they resolve the task only once , when the task is completed. so its better to make a default value as an associate instead of Resolve. or At least given an option to choose an default value. Thanks.

Visualize relationships between branches based on changesets
I'd like to see an overview graph of branches to determine how branches were created, merged or synchronized. Actually I have to find the right changeset to get the same information. When working with a lot of branches like we do (feature-driven development) it would be very helpful to obtain rapidly an overview of latest actvitities among the branches (especially for synchronizing branches). The graph could be visualized as DGML and rendered in Visual Studio.

provide a way to version-control build definitions
Currently, there is no way to revert back to an old version of a Build definition once you've made changes to it.
