    • Remember related workitem

When you drag a work item onto the related work item area or add it via the ID it then is used when you do a check in to associate the changes to that work item. I may be abnormal in my usage of source control in that I check in *VERY* frequently. Usually after I get a few unit tests passing I'm checking in. This means that throughout the day I may check in a dozen or more times and really want to associate all those checkins to possible the same work item (story).

      Currently, once you do a…

Allow me to use one build definition for both checkin build and nightly triggers instead of needing to manage 2 separate ones.

          • tf unshelve / The item ... already exists

Please add a /force option in the unshelve feature or a simple merge feature.

We often have the horrible issue of "The item *** already exists" when unshelving files that already exists. This issue is blocking developers from unshelving simple files.

A workaround exists: simply unselect the files that exists but this may be insufficient

It's extremely important to support a merge operation on this.

            • TFS Feedback client should support multiple item submission

so on the Provide tab, clicking next should enable submit, not close aswell unless no more is to be entered.
Currently having to create multiple items in one feedback then in TFS creating mutiple work items from this response. It would be better to be able to promote the individual response to a work item, either a task or bug.

              • Allow for time zone on a project by project basis

At the moment under one x.visualstudio.com account we have multiple projects across different time zones. At the moment the burn down and hours remaining are skewed based on account time zone not where the project is being delivered from.

I suggest that we need the ability to allow project by project time zones to be configured which are reflected in the burn down and time remaining so that we can monitor project progress and adjust accordingly.

                • Warn when committing project file changes that don't include referenced files

A common mistake on just about every project I've worked on is a developer has commit a change to a project file that references a new file, but has not included the file. It would be nice if TFS showed a warning before / when this occurs. There could be valid reasons for letting this still proceed regardless, so a soft fail might be better than a hard fail.

Please Consider both Git and TFVC

                  • TFS Shelveset to be a personal source control

TFS shelve-sets should be more independent.
Also they should be able to use with merge-tools, not just override existing files. Now they are pretty dangerous.

Developers usually have many tasks at once, so it would be nice to use shelve as base for different tasks. Now if I have one task to make big refactoring to many files and another task to clean all unused references, those tasks partly touch the same files and releate to each other and I have problems of canceling one task from shelve.

                    Git can do this.

TFS WebAccess - Hierachical WorItems Query

By Default all Items are displayed expanded. You have the button to collapse all items, but it would be great if there is an Option to make the collapsed view the Standard view.

                      • Allow a version control tree to be moved under a newly created project

Source tree's once defined can be quite static in structure, however process (and process template) may change dramatically. It would be nice when creating a new project to have it use an existing tree without having to branch.

                        • Add a Service Hook for Shelve creation/update

In Visual Studio Online, we have Web Hooks for many things, including When someone checkin code.

In certain teams, shelves are used as a gatekeeper for code (for devs new in a team, interns, etc...). It can be useful to add a Service Hook when someone create or update a shelveset. This way, we can be notified, and take appropriate action (run Build/unit tests on code shelve, review the code, etc...)

                          • make it possible to require a history comment on work item change

In some cases I would like to require a histroy comment for a work item change, e.g. so that it is explained why this work item has been set into removed state.

It is somehow possible today by making another dummy field, but this solution has some disadvances: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/da-DK/tfsprocess/thread/9b672f4c-3054-481a-856d-4da650f25f74

Automatic Synchronization of TFS Servers. My customer has two separate instances or more of TFS 2010 servers.
Due to security reason, there is no connectivity between the servers. Once a week they need to perform a source control synchronization between the 2 servers, same code base. The current process requires a manual copy of source code from server A to a DVD, then copy the content from the DVD to Server B and vice versa. Needless to say this is a tedious process. They are currently exploring several solutions based on additional research i have provided to them.

                              1. TFS…

                              • Build agent status notification

Provide a notification mechanism to display the user that the connection to a build agent is not available anymore. Actually, the user has to check explicitly instead of being informed. A solution could be to utlize the build notification services for alerting an unavailable agent if desired.

                                • Logging Issue with Multiple AgentScopes on same BuildAgent

I have a custom Build Process, wich does quite a large number of AgentScopes. The agents are detected by matching Tag, so it's possible that one agent is used multiple times.
The problem is: If the Agent is used the second time, the log from the first will be overridden (because its filename differs on the agentId).

May specify the filename in a other Way. Thank you!

                                  • Allow Checkout Comments while performing a Checkout

I would suggest to add an option where in a user can add description (comments) while performing a checkout in TFS.

While performing a checkout I do not find any such policy or provision wherein a user has been made to enter a checkout comment while he performs checkout operation in TFS.

                                    Thanks,

                                    Sudhir Pathak

                                    • Have a burndown chart per team member

It would be nice to view a burndown chart for each team member.

                                      • Support localdb for Team Foundation Service unit test runs

It appears that unit tests against a database used to be supported (http://lateralcoding.com/unit-testing-ef-on-microsofts-new-team-foundation-service/), however, it appears that it is no longer.

When I attempt to run a unit test that goes against localdb (e.g. with connection string "Data Source=(localdb)\v11.0; Initial Catalog=MyTest; Integrated Security=True", Team Foundation Service yields the error:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
