I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can vote and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can vote on it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Show the parent work item name on the Team Members Sprint Board

I like the "team members" Sprint Board but it shows the Team Member name twice rather than showing the Name of the parent work item. When team members are assigned tasks such as "Code Review", you must open each item to find the one that links to the correct parent work item. The backlog items board shows both Parent and User Assignment and it would be useful if the team members board showed the opposite information.

    • Compare a shelvesets between users

It would be really nice if we could compare the shelvesets of different users. I suppose Visual Studio is really lagging in that part. In my day to day work, I would like to see the difference between the work I have done on a shelveset and someone else (like comparing changesets), so that I can get a better understanding of the changes that have happened, especially when working across geographies. It would be nice to see the compare context menu right from the Unshelve window, do understand the changes.

      • Support Deployment of Multiple Websites to an Azure Web Role from VSO

Currently deploying multiple websites from VSO/TFS to Azure is not possible. You can host multiple websites on a Web Role. Publishing from VS to Azure can do this without issues, however VSO does not support this.

It unfortunate that developers cannot enable CD from VSO to Azure for multi-website web role deployments.

Here is a link to how to setup the scenario: http://michaelcollier.wordpress.com/2013/01/14/multiple-sites-in-a-web-role/

Here is a link to the confirmation it is not supported from an MSFT: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsazure/en-US/c000812b-1118-4380-b80c-732b7b9f9ff2/issue-with-azuretfs-build-in-the-case-multiple-websites-in-single-webrole?forum=azuretfs

        • Provide a way to filter the list of items in the product backlog (under Work – Backlog) on the web view

When our product owner is doing planning, he may want to filter out Technical Stories and/or look for stories with a particular keyword. It would be nice to be able to apply a filter or query to this view to make it easier to locate backlog items.

          • Allow multiple Cloud Services deployments within a single .sln build

We have an sln with two web applications (MVC4 front end and MVC4 Web API services layer), and need to deploy them to two separate Azure Cloud Services via cloud TFS. Currently, the build will only deploy one of the web applications, despite having separate Azure Deployment projects, with separate publishing profiles.

            • Convert to Git Repository feature

It would be great if Visual Studio could automatically create a GitHub repository for me and commit a TFS repository to it, and then use a Git source control plugin from then on.

              • Allow for custom rules in work item field reference

It would be nice to have ability to write complex rule for work items field. In my scenerio I have custom field Due Date and I would like to set its value to "DateTime.Now.AddDays(7)". Currently I can only use COPY rule but it support only static value.

                • Enable searching through work item query results in Team Foundation Server

have a Team Project open here.

                  If you go to:
                  [Team Explorer] > [Project] > [Work Items] > [Team Queries] > [Iteration 1] > [Active Bugs]/[Open Issues]

and open that screen by double clicking on [Active Bugs] or [Open Issues], there is no way to quickly search a Work Item there.

If you open up the [Pending Changes] window and select the second button [Work Items] you find a searchbox, but not on the "big" overview.

Thanks for the idea. This is on our backlog for review for a future version. By the way, I tweaked the title a bit to distinguish it from generic work item search, since work item search is now in the product for both Visual Studio and the web interface for the next version.

                  • Setting for default "filter by solution" state (Visual Studio TFS)

Any chance to put some setting in visual studios plugin, to enable or disable this setting by default? What I mean is, now every time I'm going into the visual studio's checkin window, I have to hit that button. I would like to decide whether I want for this option to be enabled by default when I go there or not.

Currenty every time I opne check in I see this:

                    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23242740/ScreenShots/2013-05-29%20Image_0002.png

I'd like to have an option I can set, to always see this:

                    • More custom branch/merge administrative reporting to list active branches per Release (folder/branch name) & Project and merge status

Ever since I started to work with TFS 2010 (through VS 2008 if it matters) and was tasked with producing administrative reports, I have had a lot of challenges and dead ends. I know that there is an API and the Sidekicks but neither give the details, report scheduling capabilities, zero client involvement, or ease of use that my group requires.

After looking at one of the collection schemas, I only became more frustrated... We aren't using the testing/lab piece of the tool, so the only database relationships available are of little use to us.

                      My department is heavily involved…

                                  • Provide an option to create team project from web access

As in TFS 2012 administration activities are moved to web access, it would really help people to use one console to create and manage the team projects and its permissions.

                                    • Add option to show graph in Commits view of Team Foundation Server.

As per `git log --graph`, or [Git Extensions' commit log viewer] [1], or [github's network graph viewer] [2].

Ideally, the History viewer in Visual Studio would also be updated to show a graph view.

This is very useful for branch-heavy workflows.

                                      • allow different work item types (WITs) to be presented in different colours on the TFS Kanban board

I'm looking to show different Work Item Types in different colours on the TFS2012 Kanban board (Agile Template).

I'd like the different WITs to appear in different colours (e.g. User Story in blue, Bug in Red etc). I'm pretty certain I've seen this in Team Foundation Service (cloud) but not in the locally deployed version.

Can it be done? If not, is this feature on it's way to TFS in a forthcoming update, and if so, how far down the road map is it?

                                        Thanks in advance.

                                        • automatic created tasks for backlog item

                                          For TFSPreview:
A checkBox or numericUpDown when creating a backlog item to automatic create tasks. After creating the backlog item the user is automatically lead to the relating tasks without further clicks.
