Change the default behavior when opening a solution in Source Control Explorer to bring the Soultion Explorer window into focus.
When you open the Source Control Explorer from the Team Explorer window and then open a solution, if the Solution Explorer window is docked with the Team Explorer window, as in the attached screenshot, there is no indication that the solution has loaded.

enable users to create vertical tab group and be able to maximize to a single screen in multiple monitor support
I have three monitors at work. I was looking forward to get multiple monitor support in VS2010, but I can't see how to do the on thing that I wanted to do which is to tab code windows on another monitor. It's possible to float a code window, but it's impossible to create a Vertical Tab Group and maximize it to a single screen, therefore it's hard to display several code windows on a single screen. I would highly suggest allowing tabbed code windows to be moved to a separate monitor.

Remove all refactoring functions and let ReSharper do them right
Whenever a new VisualStudio comes out I try to use it without Resharper. But it's always/still missing so many things or they aren't as comfortable to use as in Resharper. I recommend you simply remove all duplicate functionality and let Resharper do them right.

Multiple Monitor Support
Add Better Multiple Monitor Support.
While you can free-float containers in other monitors, I would like to see the ability to add "Child" Visual Studio MDI Containers to other monitors. This would allow a user to move controls from one Container to another, dock, expand, maximize, etc. This should also support multiple "Tabs" of code in each container as well.5 votes -
Be able to search for options analogously to what the new version of VS2011 is supposed to be able to do with commands.
There are so many options in the Tools|Options dialog that it's very easy to forget exactly where you found a given option earlier. It would be nice if we could search for options in the Options dialog, along the lines what the beta of VS2011 is supposed to have with searching for commands.

Bring back the ability to rapidly draw a new icon for a macro on a toolbar.
In previous versions of Visual Studio, when you added a macro to a toolbar (via customize) you could draw a new icon to represent that macro on the toolbar.
Please bring this functionality back.5 votes -
Available Visual Studio 2012 color/font/icon themes look like they were put together by a ******** donkey on *****.
IS THIS FUN TO READ, OR IS IT OBNOXIOUS? WOULD YOU ENJOY READING TEXT LIKE THIS FOR 8+ HOURS PER DAY? I SUBMIT THAT YOU WOULD NOT. ALL CAPS menu options are both unnecessary and ugly, and should never be a default setting. Tabs and panels that blend in with the editors and windows make it take longer to locate the controls you're after (it shouldn't take more than 0.5s to right-click a tab and move it to a new vertical tab group). Monochromatic icons are painful to look at and a headache to read through quickly. I shouldn't have…

Help me find code from the stack trace in a log file faster
There is an error in a log file. I see the stack trace, which contains the file name and line number. I want to get to the code where that file name and line number exist. What do I do? First I copy the file name from the log file. I then tab to visual studio then hit Ctrl+"comma" to get the "Navigate To" window. I paste the file name and get to the file. I then hit Ctrl+g to get to the goto line command and type in the line number. Now what if the Navigate To window supported…

Please Utilize "Sub Menus" in the Solution/Project Context Menu More.
The functionality of Visual Studio is not what is bothering me so much. It is how ridiculously huge the menus are becoming - mostly in regards to the context menus surrounding the Solution Explorer.
I realize a lot of users have finally become accustomed to the layout, but the sheer number of menu options is becoming burdensome, especially on smaller screens like Ultrabooks.
Enclosed is a screenshot just to demonstrate...

Make Visual Studio metered connection aware
With Windows 8 you can specify a connection as metered. Would be great if VS would be aware of this and turn off things like update & extension checks.

Add "recent folders" in the Add Reference dialog
Include in a separate tab in the Add reference dialog the list of folders that have been recently browsed (also, remember tab selection and last selected folder)

Enable "Find All References" in metadata
When I use "Go to Definition" for something defined in a DLL, it takes me to metadata. I would like to be able to use "Find all References" from here so I can find where a specific method or property is used. This can be done from any use within the project, but not from metadata.

Enable pan and scan interface for visual studio 11 fullscreen mode to increase productivity and reduce horrizontal scrollbars
In Windows XP, one could set the resolution to something higher than what the monitor supports. This created a virtual extended screen and the user could pan around the screen to view more items with the mouse cursor. Under Visual Studio 2010 one could thus achieve such an effect on XP.However VS 11 does not support XP and neither Windows 7 nor 8 support screen panning.
I find that screen panning is a good and more convenient solution than dual monitors and can vastly enhance productivity compared to horizontal scroll bars. To suit different users an option to configure the…

Visual Studio / MSDN background color too white
Problem: Eyes get tired when looking on white background for many hours. Visual studio white areas, MSDN Library white area background for articles.
Solution:
Visual Studio IDE. Can set backgroundcolor to e.g. lightgray in one place so background color in all windows in IDE are affected.
MSDN Library web site. The preferred background color can be remembered in a cookie e.g.
This is nice features to have for software developers who use Visual Studio and MSDN Library a lot on a working day. Other websites and other applications on the host are not affected compared to solving the problem with…
