I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can vote and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can vote on it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Create practical guidance on Agile Portfolio Management with TFS 2013 and beyond.

Create focused and "crisp" guidance around agile portfoilio management, team projects and teams, to complement the TFS Planning Guide (www.vsarplanningguide.codeplex.com) and capturing dogfood findings by the ALM Rangers and from the field.

    • As a TFS Administrator, I would like to extract permission reports to audit purposes

This is a common request, mainly in Banks, Government and large corporations with audit sector. Often I'm asked how to extract reports showing TFS Users and what access level they have.

      Something like:

      User: Andre Dias
      Access to:
Project Level -> Delete team project, View project-level information
Build Level -> Administer build permissions, Edit build quality
Version Control -> Check out, Check in

A access level matrix would be fantastic.

      • Enhance the v2 and v3 ALM Readiness Treasure Maps

Enhance the v2 and then the v3 ALM Readiness Treasure Map. Consider a v3 to implement features mentioned as vNext in http://blogs.msdn.com/b/willy-peter_schaub/archive/2013/08/03/alm-readiness-treasure-map-v2-1-and-vnext-feature-triage.aspx.

If you feel that the team should continue its showcase, readiness and dog-fooding project with a v4, then donate your vote(s) to this idea.

        • Using DSC, bring the Virtual Machines into the ALM lifecycle.

Using DSC as a VM "definition language", develop the process that Will allow the VMs to be generated as part of the buld process. This Will allow maintenance teams to generate development VMs on request, as well as test environments to be generated and integrated with the Test Management tooling.

          • Custom UI controls for custom applications that interact with TFS

Based on a discussion on the ALM Champs list and ALM Rangers Forums:

            I’d love control(s) that:
            - Allows me to pick files and/or folders from TFVC and/or Git
            - Allows me to configure and save a ACL for an object of my choosing (akin to the Team Administrator ACL)
            - Allows me to select a Build (output)
            - Allows me to select tests to run (akin to the automation… window)
            - Allows me to pick one or more area’s/iterations
            - Allows me to pick one or more teams
            - Check-in UI
            - etc

These would allow others to easily…

            • TFS on Azure IaaS v2

Extend the v1 guidance with the following Topic:
              - Setup VPN Connection for DEV and TEST Clients
              - Reduzing cost by using the Azure Feature Automation for scheduled VM start and stop

              • Turn the Visual Studio Performance Testing Quick Reference Guide into a Wiki site

The Rangers, MCS and P&P have this beautiful >static< guidance for best practices on various topics. My proposal is to take one of these sources of content and turn it a Wiki that will hopefully stay fresh through community interaction. As i have a had a couple of people ask about this document, written in 2010, http://vsptqrg.codeplex.com/
Visual Studio Performance Testing Quick Reference Guide (Version 3.6) i start there...
