  1. Include SQL BI tools in the latest VS version

SQL Server 2012 has followed its predecessors as the BI Tools released again with the previous version of VS instead of the latest one.

Please, release the BI tools with the latest VS version and include it in SQL Server. Be the IDE really integrated again (or finally)!

    • Ensure that you do not release a future version of Visual Studio without BIDS (SSRS, SSIS) support.

Please ensure that you do not release any future versions of Visul Studio that do not have full support for (BIDS) SSRS, SSIS. This has resulted in a significant delay in rolling out VS2010 here, and in fact now that I heard BIDS will not be supported in Windows XP, we may skip VS2010, so now our team is missing out on so many great features.

      • Integrate Reporting Services Projects into Visual Studio 2010

Currently you have to open Reporting Services Projects in VS 2008 or Business Intelligence Developer Studio (BIDS). So you have to use both VS 2010 and VS 2008 with TFS.

        • Create a WPF ReportViewer Control

Provide a WPF SSRS Report Viewer Control.

Not required but a great addition would be to have the option to display multiple reports with drag and drop and resize functionality effectively making it an end user dashboard designer, allow displaying excel sheets and powerpivots as well and it becomes a powerful tool.

            • Add F# Scripting to SSIS

SSIS currently has VB and C# languages for writing script components. I think it would be really nice to add F# support too especially with it being a very declarative expression based language good at manipulating data.

                • Allow auto-layout in ADO.Net Entity Model Designer to be disabled

Much as I love ADO.Net Entity Data Model Designer (VS2010), one feature is making me INSANE.

When initially putting together a complex data model, it's perfectly fine (and desirable) that Designer figures out on its own where the lines delineating associations are placed. However, eventually, I wind up meticulously placing those lines myself for the sake of readability.

But if I finish my painstaking layout, and then decide to, say, add a property to an existing entity, Designer redoes my entire layout, or at least every association line that leads to or from that entity.

                  It's the definition of frustrating.…

How about you get Data Compare working again for SQL 2012 databases. Can't believe you would forget one of the two core peices when updating SQL.

                        • Add an option to Automatically Update Stored Procedure Complex Types on Update Model from Database

In Visual Studio 2012 the Function Import/Complex Type of a Stored Procedure get created automatically when adding it to an Entity Model. This is a great feature over VS2010 where you had to after adding it to the Entity Model, go in and add the Function Import and create the complex type manually.

The request is that when updating the model, could the function imports/complex types be updated as well? In this cases this might not be desired so why not add a checkbox to the "Update Model from Database" form so either scenario could be addressed?

                          • Deploy SSIS Packages developed using SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio 2012 to either SQL2008R2 or SQL 2012

Ability to choose the deployment target environment for SSIS Packages either SQL 2008 R2 or SQL 2012 similar to the functionality that SSRS has. This necessary to help larger shops transition from SQL 2008 R2 to SQL 2012 without having to upgrade all production systems at once.

Trying to develop reports using the report designer is bad enough due to the often poor rendering without the pain of having to drill up and down through dialogs each and every time you want to preview it

                              • add "bring to front" and "send to back" in UML diagrams

Not being able to change the z-axis of items in UML diagrams causes them to become difficult to work with. Adding the "bring to front" and "send to back" options we have in the form designer view would UML diagrams much easier to use, and therefore a better feature.

                                  • Add a data sample size as an optional setting in Configuration Manager for SSAS Tabular

When working with large tables in SSAS Tabular (as it is not always possible to develop on a sample of prod data), I am forced to use a hard coded filter (eg TOP n) in my source query to avoid sucking all data into my model at design time I then have to modify the partition query(s) post deployment meaning whats in my solution doesnt match the code on the server. To alleviate this work around, if an optional sample size setting were able to be configured in the Configuration Manager it could be set to filter a top "n"…

                                    • Matrix control support pagination method for columns/rows.

eg. every 4 columns * 5 rows per page. At the same time allow adding multiple title/header rows for the matrix. They are more usefull when there are more then 2 dimensions in the matrix. we can promote one of the row filed dimension info to the title/header level to explain some common information for the column fields and repeat the header dimension info on each paginated page.

                                      • Add the ability to have a REPORT Footer

Seriously. There is currently no way to create a report footer element that shows only on the last page of the report at the bottom. How is this possible? Trying to create an Invoice report in SSRS is infuriating, so much so that we have completely moved to another product.

Yes. I know that you can do whacky work arounds by dynamically resizing tablix controls to put content to the bottom of a page by calculating the page size, margins, offsets and all that jazz but why is this even necessary?

Even the functionality of using a PAGE Footer and…

                                        • Add a way to view the SQL generated in SSRS without having to go through the SQL Server Profiler

At the moment it is an absolute pain to see how SSRS is generating SQL without going through SQL Server Profiler.

This is particularly the case when you have a predicate such as '[ColumnName] in (@InParameter)' and the @InParameter is a multi-select list.

The Dataset Designers are a great help but do not help when trying to debug Reports at runtime.

What I propose is to include a Tab next to Design and Preview tabs that shows the TSQL that is generated as a result of the parameter selections.

Or as an alternative allow the TSQL to be sent to…
