I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can vote and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can vote on it.

  1. Allow there two be two current sprints.

When you have two teams in different organisations working on the same code base, and have split them into different work areas, with there own sprint cycles.
If there are two sprints currently active and you look at TFS in the context of the parent Area that can see both sprints, only one shows as current and the other one shows as future, which is misleading.

    • 'View Controller Queue' should show all builds in the queue!

My company uses a number TFS Team Projects. Developers share a pool of build machines. Often, I queue a build, but see it is hanging about waiting for other builds in the queue to complete. I need to know which builds are in the queue before it.

The Controller Queue view only shows builds for the currently selected Team Project. It needs to show all builds!

      • Allow the user to configure the code editor to remove the Toolbox and Properties windows from the sides of the editor.

Allow the user to configure the code editor to remove the Toolbox and Properties windows from the sides of the editor.

When in design view, these two windows are valuable, and I often pin them so that they don't autohide. When editing code, they are in the way, and I'd like them (and any other windows) to switch to autohide mode.

        • Delay Intellisense

I don't feel satisfied about VS Intellisense, I want something to delay Intellisense, when I type code at 'standard' speed, Intellisense doesn't appear, if I stop for a while (about 2-3 seconds), Intellisense' popup will show me hints which I should do.

          • Interlocked.CompareExchange for bool

Interlocked.CompareExchange have some overloading for value types and one generic for reference types. Unfortunately, bool is missing. I have to use int instead bool in case of binary choose, something i have never done since old C times.

            • RyuJIT should optimize typical "business app" code

Some types of applications are very math and loop-heavy. But most code is in "boring" business apps. Most work a business app does is moving data around and implementing basic business rules. Such code features lots of:

              - branches
              - allocations
              - indirection (delegates and vcalls)
              - function calls

RyuJIT optimizations should focus on these kinds of code patterns.

For example, RyuJIT could perform escape analysis to move allocations of lambdas and enumerators onto the stack so that they do not have to be GCed. Most LINQ invocations and lambdas are guaranteed to die after the enclosing method exits.

              • Be able to modify attachments during testing

In MTM you can add attachments to tests an/or test steps. During executig the test these attachments can be opened. When you open these attachments, they will be opened as read-only. When a tester wants to modify these attachments during testing they have to store it first locally on their disk and reattach/upload/overwrite it in MTM/WebAccess

Ideal solution: being able to modify attachments during executing tests. They will not be opened as read-only but when you press save they will be stored in the TFS database.

If I unselected the option for preview every file in solution explorer through > tools > settings then it will not sync.

the problem is next time you still need to do it.

                    • Support Entity Framework for WinRT apps

For WinRT to be a decent candidate for LOB apps, we need better data access support for direct SQL Server 2-tier architecture apps. Need a version of Entity Framework that works with WinRT apps.

                        • Include exploratory test sessions in the tfs_warehouse and analysis database to allow reporting

Adding exploratory testing sessions into the tfs_warehouse and analysis database will allow accurate reporting of test team effort.

Reporting on execution of scripted tests can be easily produced but it is currently not possible to include exploratory sessions

                          • Make .NET Open Source

Like you did with ASP.NET Stack and most recently Entity Framework http://data.uservoice.com/forums/72025-entity-framework-feature-suggestions/suggestions/2858489-make-it-open-source

Would be wonderful open most of .NET BCL, CLR and even JIT. Not just open source, but licensed with a Apache License or similar, so we can really say that .NET is portable

                            • Bring back C++11 user defined literals

I believe that you already had that in the VisualStudio2013RC. Why did you take it out in the VS2013 release?
User defined literals are awesome, and we need them!

                              • Add option to MIDL compiler to suppress output noise

When compiling an IDL file, there's far too much uninteresting output written. Each imported/included file is output, e.g.:

                                Processing C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.0\Include\um\oaidl.idl
                                oaidl.idl

It' analogous to turning on the c/c++ compiler option "Show Includes" - not very useful most of the time.

Ideally, by default, the output would simply contain the name of the idl file processed in the project - just like the c++ compiler.

Also, why does it generate a warning when you override an option? We have /W0 turned on which generates a warning (ironic):

                                2>midl : command line warning MIDL1015: /W0 or /no_warn overrides warning-level…

                                • Visual Studio Tools for Git Extension (Microsoft Git Provider) integration with Source Control Explorer window

The major feature that is still missing from the Microsoft Git Provider is to integrate it with the Source Control Explorer window to provide a full featured Git repository UI that will rival third party tools in it's feature set.

A great example of the ideal functionality is the Git Extensions main user interface. It allows changing repositories and branches, stashing changes, committing code and push/pull operations. It also provides a great visual diagram showing the commit history for the selected repository and where each branch (local and origin) is in relation to the head. It also allows you to…

                                  • Is it possible to connect project hosted under TFS service with project which is under Codeplex

Im pretty sure Im not the first one but I did not find an answer on that.
Igot an MS account which I use for Codeplex and For my projets under TFS Service. I got a opensource product which Im evoluating and publish under Codeplex but keep development private under TFS service. Are there any possibility to easely publish my source code from TFS Service to CodePlex (Im using TFS sourcecontrol not a Git)

                                    • I suggest that the error window presents errors in the order they appear in the build log.

The error window is useless for c++ developers. The sorting options don't allow me to see the first error encountered by the compiler which is often causing many of the rest of errors I'm seeing.

                                      • Allow relative paths for external hyperlinks in comments

Since documentation files are often checked into TFS along with code, allowing relative links to be followed from comments would allow linking to images, pdfs, and other documentation relevant to understanding code directly from code comments.
