I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Provide ability to download all or multiple files under a changeset id in Team System Web Access.

    Please provide a way to download multiple files associated with a changeset id. If a developer has multiple files under one changeset id it is time consuming to download each file one by one for a deployment.
    A simple feature such as download all would be great. Thank in advance.

    • Merge work items when you merge a branch to another one

      When I merge a branch to another one, it would be very helpful if the linked work items (tasks, bugs, ..) are merged too in order to have track of what I've merged.

      • VS SourceControl explorer doesn't show head revision

        Person A deletes a branch.
        Person B refreshes SourceControl explorer afterwards and the branch still shows up unchanged.

        Person B has common sense and would assume that SourceControl exproler shows the latest state on the server, but no... it shows the state on Person's B local environment.

        I would like SourceControl explorer in VisualStudio to show me what's currently on the server. If I need to know whats on my laptop I open something called "Windows Explorer".

        Crazy... I know...

        Why do I have to download the latest version of everything if I want to see the latest version on…

        • Delete file/folder without getting the latest version

          Delete file/folder without getting the latest:

          This is the most insane thing I have ever come across and I cannot think of any justification for that behavior.

          Why do I have to download everything from the server so that I can delete it on the server, when in the end it just gets marked as deleted anyway (so it doesn't get lost in case I made a mistake).

          There is no excuse for this and it is seriously the worst feature design EVER for one of the most common features. Please change this!

          • Rollback to changeset using GIT

            Here is a scenario I am trying to solve using TFS 2013 with a GIT repository:

            Several pushes have been made to the central repository.
            Sometime in the past month, a bug was introduced.
            We are having a very hard time figuring out what is causing the bug.
            We wrote a unit test that now detects the bug.
            We want to run that unit test on various versions of the code so that we can trace where the bug was introduced.
            In order to do this, we need to be able to get the code at several points in time…

            • Allow choice of Source control providers when a Git repository exists

              I personally use a git repository on my local workstation, but I am part of a team where TFS is the "official" source control. In VS2012, I have disabled the Git provider, and maintain my git repos by command line, pulling down changes from TFS and committing them to the master branch of my repo, then merging those changes to my feature branches.
              VS2013 CTP doesn't allow me that flexibity - if a Git repository exists that contains the solution, then it forces the Git source control provider to be used. This cuts me off from a number of TFS…

                The whole work space thing is ridiculously complicated. All I want to do is check in an object and I can't ... why??? some ridiculous security issue ... the root of this is because I have two LIVE accounts: one for my personnel email (that I've had since the beginning of time) and the LIVE account I use for WORK which is completely different ... all of this "flexibility" makes this stuff more difficult to use. Try it yourself and see.

                • webget and webinvoke uritemplate should support strongly typed parameters

                  WebGet and WebInvoke should support UriTemplates that are compatible with Web Api REST style Templates without them being defined as String.
                  As in....

                  [WebGet(UriTemplate = "api/Something/SomeClass/{id}")]
                  String SomeAction(Guid id);
                  so that one can use the ChannelFactory class to easily create a restful client and can simply just share the interface between client/server implementations.

                  • i I suggest you provide a project template for XAML/Typescript instead of HTML/Typscript.

                    I suggest the following three items:
                    A. You provide a project template for XAML/Typescript instead of HTML/Typescript. The XAML should be transpiled to HTML as the typescript is transpiled to javascript. Developers can either work with the XAML view window or the HTML view window depending on which one they are comfortable with. that way MS developers coming from wpf/Silverlight are happy and new open source developers coming from HTML are happy.
                    B. You should create RIA services for XAML/Typescript just as you had in Silverlight/c#/vb. And you will be forgiven for leading developers to Silverlight and killing it.
                    C.…

                    • Display TFS project and build information on the start screen

                      Allow users to select projects for which they would like to see information about on the start screen such as burndown chart or recent builds or other notifications.

                      • Integrate excel and TFS2013 to allow Iterations to be created as a bulk operation

                        In TFS2010 Scrum template, the user can create multiple Sprint work items for multiple teams using Excel, and assign start and end dates very easily. I like the new Iteration creation interface in TFS2013, but there needs to be a way to bulk create Iterations - this would reduce the administration of Iterations considerably.

                        • Enable Global NoTracking of Data in Entity Framework

                          Hi,
                          This is just an extension of existing behavior.
                          My understanding of Model, View, Controller is that changes to the model should be reflected in interested views at the earliest opportunity (for example, the observer pattern allows for this). Thus if a data value is changed in an underlying database or persistent data store such as a file, any view that is observing that data model should reflect the change at the earliest opportunity (in the web world when the user refreshes a page, or when a page timer fires causing a page refresh).
                          It appears that the default behavior…

                          • Add Caller Info Attribute for MethodBase of Caller

                            For tracing/logging API I think an additional caller info attribute would be beneficial in allowing the callee to request that the caller pass a MethodBase of the caller. The callee could then use reflection on the MethodBase to format the caller.

                            Upon seeing a method decorated with this attribute the C#/VB.NET compilers would emit a ldtoken opcode with the RuntimeMethodHandle of the calling method and call MethodBase.GetMethodFromHandle() to obtain the MethodBase reference.

                            e.g.
                            public void Foo(int x, [CallerMethod] MethodBase caller = null) {
                            // do stuff

                              In Fantom language you can use const keyword to declare immutable class. I think C# should do it too.

                              • syntactic sugar for await

                                I'd love to see the following syntactic sugar come to C#:

                                block awaiting which automatically creates anonymous Task objects, runs them asynchronously, and unwraps their result after they have finished.

                                For example the following:

                                | public static async Task AwaitSyntacticSugarExample()
                                | {
                                | int i1, i2;
                                |
                                | await
                                | {
                                | i1 = AsyncInt(1);
                                | i2 = AsyncInt(2);
                                | }
                                |
                                | Console.WriteLine("{0} + {1} = {2}", i1, i2, i1 + i2);
                                | }

                                • Add a "Move to end" option to the right-click context menu on a backlog item

                                  When I add new items to the backlog they appear at the top. Sometimes this is OK - but sometimes I want them right at the bottom. Dragging them to the bottom is cumbersome, so a right-click "Send to bottom" would be really helpful.

                                  • Manage multiple directory-arguments for debugging.

                                    While debugging I have some possible scenarios, each one has to be launched in different directory and proper arguments.

                                    Going to properties, clicking the mouse and doing some copy-paste each time looks like fishing before starting to debug.

                                    It would be nice having a history to select the one I want to repeat this time and start to debug ASAP.

                                    • One click navigation from current sprint board to backlog and vice-versa

                                      Add buttons to the backlog explorer next to each sprint/backlog to allow you to go directly to the task board or backlog for that sprint.
                                      At the moment in the task board if I click 'backlog items' it takes me to the Kanban board and then I have to click the backlog items task.

                                      Likewise from the backlog items list I have to click the current sprint and then the board tab.

                                      One click would be nice.

                                      • Static property extensions

                                        Allow static property extensions in the same way as extension methods.

                                        e.g.

                                        public static bool Exists { get { return !String.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(value); } }

                                        • decorate default DisplayName properties with $() to ease localization pains

                                          when creating the display name property for screen items, decorate with $() for localization.

                                          For extra credit create an entry in the default resx as required and dump in the value that is currently used in the DisplayName.
