Easier Customization of Navigation and Screen Layout Workflow

Lightswitch meets and exceeds many of my inital expectations, except for the abilty to easily modify the layout and look of the Navigation area. It makes sense to have the navigation listbox of screens on the left if you have a lot of screens, but sometimes you want to have a simple menu at the top or some sort of creative screen layout. Maybe people want to have graphicical navigation or workflow based navigation.

Thanks, Andy. I had to remove some votes from this idea to do that, but I'd like to note my continued support for this item too.

Thank you for the idea! What I'm hearing is that the default navigation menu looks overkill for an app with fewer screens. Would it help if there is an alternative shell that optimizes specifically for fewer screens?

@shannonwhitley - I would suggest creating a separate idea to track the ability to add folder icons

I was looking at my LightSwitch applications and wondering why they didn't look as good as the Windows Azure Dashboard. The basic layout of both is very similar, but I think one of the major differences is the ability to include images beside each menu item. The Azure dashboard includes many images, even if they are only simple folder icons. An icon beside the menu item would go a long way toward a more professional looking app. In general, I'd love to see more flexibility in the navigation.
