autocomplete box "New" link in footer
Lightswitch uses an autocomplete box to display the one side of a one to many relationship when viewed from a form generated for the table on the many side. You drop down the list and "refresh" is in the footer. Add a link for "new" as well that will open the generated or created add new form like the green plus in the list details screen. Also when there and I add a new record and click the ok button it should save the record without me having to click the save button. This without having to build a custom control and custom forms. It would allow greater use of generated forms by business non programmers.

Let me clarify this a little, (not that I was confused by my own post)
Adding a link to the footer of the auto generated Auto Complete Box.
When I connect 3 tables in a many to many relationship and set the summary property in the one side tables,
They appear in the many side table grid as a drop down when adding a new many side record.
In the footer of the dropdown is a refresh command link. I also need an ADD command link (that uses the same functionality as the green plus sign).
I need it to:
• Know the entity (which it should because it is linked to it).
• Open the generated new record screen for that entity.
• Populate the field with the recently added summary value.
The same would be true from the add new record modal form from the many table (clicking the green plus)
That way, if the record does not exist I can add a new one without having to create another screen and menu item. The menus seem to get lengthy. This is just an example. The completed application will contain many fields that are actually records in other tables with more details than are displayed in the summary value.
I have been told it does not exist but it would seem to me it would greatly reduce the number of screens we would need to make. If you know of this in existence please advise.
The closest I come to putting all this in one form is to use a list details screen adding another tab to the list side containing the other many table.
The problem is when I use the second tab, I can add new records but the records on the right are still linked to the primary list tab records.
Since both of the list tables point to the same details table I would like the details side to display the details of either list depending on which record is selected.
This is not as intuitive as the add command in the footer but would work as well. The main problem I see is if I had 8 fields in a form (grid) that needed records added I would have 8 tabs on the list side. Not good (IMHO). The ADD command in the footer would require no lists.
I would like to include screen shots but I am not sure how.
