Standalone installer for vsupdate_KB2707250.exe would be usefull and save time.
As you can read here:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/06b7f509-567b-4869-81a3-801e4cae883f/
there is no standalone installer for vsupdate_KB2707250.exe.
Each time when you reinstall your development PC you have to wait a long time while the web installer of the
update vsupdate_KB2707250.exe downloads the update. To eliminate this uncessary wait time, it woul be
usefull to download only once a standalone installer of the vsupdate_KB2707250.exe update.
Our installer does allow for downloading once and applying across multiple machines. Please see Rob Caron’s blog post (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robcaron/archive/2013/04/04/how-to-install-visual-studio-2012-update-2-offline.aspx) for instruction on how to do this. Having said that, we also recognize that the /layout option doesn’t work in all cases, so we’ve also provided an ISO image (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudio/archive/2013/05/03/announcing-availability-of-isos-for-visual-studio-updates.aspx?PageIndex=3&CommentPosted=true) where you can use your own downloader to accomplish offline/multiple installs. And for those reporting issues with the /layout option, please know that we’re working on the issues as we discover them.
I’m marking this item as Completed given the fact that the feature exists (admittedly with some outstanding bugs we’re working on) and we have a different, offline alternative in our ISO image for customers experiencing problems with the /layout feature. Between one of those two paths, we believe this issue is addressed.

it gets worse - now that Update 2 is released, Update 1 is nuked (all traces gone from microsoft.com). So there's no way to downgrade if you have regressions like this one:

If Microsoft i serious about having its product tested, they know they should have released this update as an iso-file or an exe-file without anyone of us having to shout ourselves hoarse on the issue......

Jason Kulhanekm, that doesn't work if web proxy is required. all traffic in my shop goes through web proxy. Not parameters to input proxy info.

I started setup with Layout option.
It is downloading packages at a very slow speed on around 3-5 kbps and even below. My internet connection is 3.2 Mbps. And I got 300-400 KBps actual downloading speed.

Since the offline installer is available with the /Layout option, you may close this idea so that people who voted it may vote on other ideas!

Can I replace the files in the standard VS installation with the ones downloaded by the update so the next time I need to install VS I don't have to do an install AND an update after that?
I see that there are a couple of kbxxxxx folders too in the update. Maybe I can integrate those after the install?

To download the entire update without installing it so you can install on multiple machines offline for later installation, use the /Layout flag, so for example:
(1) Download the vsupdate_KB2707250.exe to your desktop
(2) run: <path to desktop>\vsupdate_KB2707250.exe /Layout
(where <path to desktop> is the full path to your own desktop) and it will download all files to a subfolder of your “My Documents” folder named: Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 (KB2707250)(3) Distribute the files downloaded to your various machines and then run the downloaded vsupdate_KB2707250.exe in your “Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 (KB2707250)” in your My Documents (notice that there is a “packages” folder as a subfolder of the “Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 -KB2707250) folder – this is where all the downloaded files ended up from step 2)
