I would like to be able to tie the Visual Studio Source Control plug-in to the solution.
Currently the plug-in choice is tied to the installation of Visual Studio. If I have work code that is in TFS, while personal play projects are in Mercurial, I have no way to be able to use the VisualHG plug-in with my personal projects, while using TFS for my work projects.
If the plug-in choice was part of the solution, that would be a welcome addition for many developers who do corporate work at the same time as open-source/vanity projects.

The source control plugin should change when you load the solution. It is per-solution. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb166812.aspx
