Customize Process Template on Visual Studio Online
In Visual Studio Online, allow the ability to change the current process template a created project is using as well as the ability to upload your own process templates to create new projecsts with.
It seems like hosted TFS service does not yet support process template customization.
Can you please allow that ...like work type definition edit using Power Tools 2012.
So that I can export file locally...edit the WIT (work item types),edit the wit and import the edited WIT tlo the service.
Please do let me know if it's supported.
It doesn't seem to be supported for me.
Should be self-explanatory, but if an owner wants additional fields on a Bug work item for How Found, Customer, etc, then they can do it. If they want a Request work item for feature requests, then they can do that as well.
I currently don't see a way to do this on the TFSPreview.com site.
ALl scrum teams where I have been in the dashboard there is always a To be tested column, or a To Verify column. At least that part of the process template should be editable or customizable.
At the moment, this is an impediment for my team to use tfs preview.
The tfspreview.com hosted TFS solution is great, but we cannot save changes made via the process editor. So we are stuck with the default states and transitions for workitem types.
There is still no way to track work items using witadmin command tool for TFS on Azure, suggest implement this feature.
We are investigating how we can enable customizations of the work items on the service, as well as using your own process templates.

This is a critical feature for some of our development teams. Must have...
You can add us to the list of companies that need this feature in order to be able to use VSO.
Total showstopper for us - we cannot migrate online until VS online supports work item and global list customizations
This is great news. We moved our development environment onto the cloud in June and had had to refine/update our software development process to work with what Microsoft provides. These new capabilities once released will not only help my company but also others.
I believe there will be many more companies move their development environment onto the cloud.
Our team are a few of weeks away from finishing a big project only to find out about this issue and it is causing us grief. Hoping this gets resolved soon...
Hi guys, this is a critical feature for our development team, we really need the ability to edit the work item template to track time like in an on premise mode (original estimate / remaining / completed work). For the time being we are writing these 3 numbers in out tasks title...
We migrated from on-premises TFS where we had customized templates which we now can't use nor replicate.
There are some obvious deficiencies with the standard templates, like not having a target date on a Task. I Thought VSO would be an improvement but sadly it is not even up to TFS 2008 functionality yet!
This feature is critical. We are struggling to use the system online with this limitation.

This is such a great feature, it's a little strange that it does not exist yet. Since the design, workflow, and layout is stored as XML, the storage of this custom data could just as easily be stored efficiently, using the design XML as a guide for extracting some compressed binary data. Great idea, and it seems to have a good number of followers. You can do it, MS, "Chugga chugga chugga, toot...tooooot."
This is an extremely important feature to us! We reached task board limits...
This is an extremely important feature to us and a number of our clients.
This is very important for us too. Hopefully it is coming soon!

We need bugs in the backlog in the cmmi template
I have to agree. Not sure why they aren't allowing it. I was able to pull down the template, and edit it, only to find out I can't upload it?
Work Item customization is most important. Every Project need it.
Please provide this feature asap

We have a very simple requirement and even minimal customization of the process template would help. We want to differentiate 'bugs' found in internal testing from bugs found by clients. We want all our staff to be able to track the status of bugs reported by clients -- no easy way to do this when QA and client-reported problems have to go into the same bucket.

Kinda surprised this wasn't supported
This feature is absolutely necessary and is stopping our migration. PLEASE ADD THIS FUNCTIONALITY MEOW!!!!!!!

This feature is really required before I want to migrate to VSO.
We are having to migrate from VSO to a self-hosted version of TFS, albeit on Azure. We are a startup company and we are trying to use everything we can as SaaS. We started out using VSO but the first problem we ran into was the inability to run custom tests (we are using Telerik Test Studio) which caused us to run a custom build/test server. Now we have a requirement to customize the work item template so we are going to have to move our whole TFS process to the self-hosted version. Disappointing. The VSO product is really only appropriate very small/simple projects and teams. It's not at all clear going in that this is the case.
