Customize Team Foundation Service Process Template
In Team Foundation Service, allow the ability to change the current process template a created project is using as well as the ability to upload your own process templates to create new projecsts with.
It seems like hosted TFS service does not yet support process template customization.
Can you please allow that ...like work type definition edit using Power Tools 2012.
So that I can export file locally...edit the WIT (work item types),edit the wit and import the edited WIT tlo the service.
Please do let me know if it's supported.
It doesn't seem to be supported for me.
ALl scrum teams where I have been in the dashboard there is always a To be tested column, or a To Verify column. At least that part of the process template should be editable or customizable.
At the moment, this is an impediment for my team to use tfs preview.
The tfspreview.com hosted TFS solution is great, but we cannot save changes made via the process editor. So we are stuck with the default states and transitions for workitem types.
There is still no way to track work items using witadmin command tool for TFS on Azure, suggest implement this feature.
I am unable to upload a tfs 2013 process template using tfs services. I am connecting using team explorer 2012. The upload link is disabled. Also, I am using a free account for 5 users ?
Any thoughts. ?
Absolutely absolutely absolutely should be able to edit work item type definitions in Visual Studio Online. Was that enough "absolutely" to get the point across that this matters, a lot? Until the command "witadmin importwitd" works, Visual Studio Online is useless for most projects and nearly all organizations. Right now you get "You don't have enough permissions to complete the import operation" even if you are a project administrator. I can't imagine an enterprise of any size even considering VSO without the ability to customize workflows. Command line tools are fine (It doesn't have to be through a GUI, doesn't have to be through the website), but it does have to be possible.
And who thought it was wise to set up the (currently non-editable) template to automatically mark a work item complete the first time you commit something against it?
At least allowing the WIT's to be edited would be a start.
How this important feature not supported until now ?? it is very frustrated, the product is really cool but with out this feature is useless
Allowing template customization would be very valuable for enterprise TFS

I agree: This will be a requirement for enterprise adoption of TFS as a SaaS. We really need this.

Using the predefined templates can be quite a drag. having this available will be very helpful to me and my team.

This is key to allow us to create our own Task Activities and the like. I notice you can download the current process templates in the project from Visual Studio (Team -> Team Project Collection Settings --> Process Template Manager). However, there doesn't appear to be a way to upload these templates.

Is it done now then? I really beed to clean up some mess we made while learning how to work TFS.

We would love this feature as we want to be able to track bugs on the task board!!
Please enable Process Template changes to TFSPreview. We need to set the required fields.

So is this now supported in March 2013 or not? I don't mind a command line tool for now, but I screwed up and want to purge certain tasks that should not have been created.
It's important to note that the way you make TFS Cloud Service really work for devs is by giving them access to VS 2012 and Excel for power user data entries and edits. Otherwise TFS is just too heavy of a framework for a large number of your likely cloud users. The ability to carefully but deliberately delete bad objects is very important.
Can't use the clound until we get this, only need a link to existing Issue in another system for scrum Product backlog items! Now I have to setup server etc etc :-(
We really need this. Waiting for it before we can and will migrate to TFS in the cloud

We also can't move to Team Foundation Service until you can modify the process template.
My place of work WANTS to move to TFS cloud, but can't until we can modify the default workflow. Any idea "when" or "if" this feature is going to be added?
Yes Hemanshu, it's done.
