T4 editing

T4 is no longer just a tool used internally by VS, but is being increasingly used by developers for code generation. It would be great to have syntax highlighting, intellisense etc. out of the box.

I appreciate this is probably more of a Visual Studio feature request than an ASP.NET one, but as T4 is used a lot within ASP.NET projects, particularly MVC ones, I figure it's worth a mention.

While we're at it what about allowing files generated by T4 to be excluded from source control?

T4 is one of the best things to come in in recent years and it's lack of default support is almost criminal

I'm not sure why the VS team doesn't just buy CodeSmith Generator (The editor's already done). They stole everything else including Generator's entire syntax.

I use tangible t4 add in but it would be so much better if T4 was a first class citizen with all the bells and whistles

We need debugging features as well as the intellisense. And intellisense usually breaks when you "include" files or break up the files with the freebies. They just don't cut it for our company. Our code generation is too complex for the plugins.

Yes absolutely! The T4 system is a must for most organisations, but is a daunting task for anyone new- you change that and the adoption&innovation will thrive!

I agree for sure. The 'free' extension only gives you so much. If you want everything you have to pay.

Please make T4 first class citizen in VS2010. It is one of the best kept secrets to majority devs. Debugging was the reason not to take off since it came out...
Please keep up the good work :)

Hey, we should have a category T4 on the right side so that its easy for people to locate this.

Yeah exist, however I think that VS boys could make this much better.
