VS11 performance on my existing VS2011 enterprise project is horrific. (Had to completely rebuild project for VS2010 as it wouldnt open due to MVC Razor bug in 2011)

I have 3 projects, the biggest an autogenerated ORM with 500+ files, a tiny Common project and an MVC 3 website. Razor performance is noticably slower than VS10 as well as now not working within JavaScript, what? Why would you break that even more than it was broken in VS10, MS had a whole year to sort out the buggy Razor integration and it actually went backwards! Incredible.

The indexing/filtering explorers are great additions however once again the main problem is scalability, when you open the first few files it feels snappy enough, but open more than 10-20 files (very common) and performance drops horribly, open a file.. 5 second delay (why? its just a css file, what is it doing that takes 5 seconds?!)

Then try filtering a couple of of Solution Explorers and its even worse. I also find when I come back to VS11 after a few hours I get 10 second stutter with whole screen going grey. TELL ME WHAT YOU ARE DOING IDE AND I MIGHT BE MORE UNDERSTANDING.

Sure VS11 uses less memory but who cares if you have that memory especially so that these operations are faster! RAM is cheap, my time is not.

Its the constant stutters under stress that I am most dissapointed with, watching the vidcasts I was sure this had been addressed but at the moment I have going back to VS10 because although it is slower it is more predictable and reliable in when I will get performance, ultimately this is much less annoying than random 5-10second grey screens. It just cannot keep up with the demands I have so this is ultimately a huge fail for any IDE.

I feel that the UI team have really dropped the ball on this and haven't tested with the appropriate scale of project (enterprise) and the performance tuning has backfired.

It would be a great feature to organise the bin catalog of the project in the way each developer team wants, namely when team organizes bin directory by adding sub directories and adding assemblies to the them.

When you build applications in Visual Studio, all assemblies are copied into the bin directory of the project if you have subdirectories with the same assemblies inside of them.

Also it would be a great feature to add ability to configure subdirectory in which the whole project will be compiled.

And it would be pleasure to see that all things mentioned above are done not only for projects after compilation of which we have only single file assembly, but also for such type of projects which all built using multifile assemblies with help of Visual Studio Command Prompt. It would be great to have all these things integrated in VS 2011 IDE in order to simplify entire application`s compilation process
so may you can deside and configure compilation strategies for the application either it would be singlefile or multifile assembly project type. Make it EASIER to select and push schema changes from the Schema Compare tool.

As it stands, I don't trust that tool to only do what I want. If you look at RedGate's product you'll see that it is dead head simple to select the procs or table changes you want.

With the VS tool, there are several issues. First you have this complicated tree structure. Eliminate that. As it stands if I select "Skip" as the update action on a top level item, it will still run actions for items further down that tree. This is not expected behavior and the best way to resolve is to simply get rid of the tree to begin with.

Next, the tool looks at way too much. There is no situation in which I want to have the data files moved on the target server. Quite frankly, I don't care where they are located on the target server. It took a couple days to figure out the combination of options to get the tool to ignore *most* of that ****.

Next, get rid of the drop down list for "Action". I have to click twice (once to get the pull down, once to select what I want to occur) for each item. This is such a time waster. Make it a checkbox. Either I want the change or I don't. Also, let me set the default action here.

Make it simple for me to compare the things that actually matter.
