Customize Process Template on Visual Studio Online
In Visual Studio Online, allow the ability to change the current process template a created project is using as well as the ability to upload your own process templates to create new projecsts with.
Provide a complete web based User Interface to customize Work Items and Work Item Templates without having to resort to the TFS Power Tools along with Visual Studio to customize Work Items. Tools like JIRA already offer complete customization for their issue tracking systems through the web, so there is no reason that TFS should require a thick client application to perform similar customizations.
Just want to be able to add fields to a work item.
It seems like hosted TFS service does not yet support process template customization.
Can you please allow that ...like work type definition edit using Power Tools 2012.
So that I can export file locally...edit the WIT (work item types),edit the wit and import the edited WIT tlo the service.
Please do let me know if it's supported.
It doesn't seem to be supported for me.
Surprisingly, it was released without that functionality
Should be self-explanatory, but if an owner wants additional fields on a Bug work item for How Found, Customer, etc, then they can do it. If they want a Request work item for feature requests, then they can do that as well.
I currently don't see a way to do this on the TFSPreview.com site.
ALl scrum teams where I have been in the dashboard there is always a To be tested column, or a To Verify column. At least that part of the process template should be editable or customizable.
At the moment, this is an impediment for my team to use tfs preview.
The tfspreview.com hosted TFS solution is great, but we cannot save changes made via the process editor. So we are stuck with the default states and transitions for workitem types.
There is still no way to track work items using witadmin command tool for TFS on Azure, suggest implement this feature.
We are well underway to allow you to customize the process on Visual Studio Online. See the following blog posts for more details

I would like to change the process template for a VSO project. I have no existing work items yet but I have tons of code change history so do not want to delete the project and start over. How do I go about changing the process template?
Our company has 1 state between InProgress and Done... and today we need Tags to solve the problem. Because of that when we're associating the Task in eclipse we need to change from 'Resolve' to 'Associate', and then open the Task and add the Tags manually... That is not very agile XD
Please do it ASAP
This would definitely be a big plus for our development process

Would be very nice!!!!
Let's move this towards the top of the backlog.
Would love to see an update on this item? Any progress?
We are force to not use VSO because custom template are not supported
Business case = dead without ability to customize work item types.
Any updates on the availability of these features?
JIRA as a good online process template editor and for customize work item workflow. Maybe good idea to take from JIRA :)
Hi, I am able to download the bug template and change the bug.xml but I cannot upload it. I assume it is because it is not enabled yet. Any updates or workarounds?

Any idea on a time frame for the basic ability to add some simple fields to work items? We're ready to make this move but this one piece of functionality is going to force us to go on-premises.
As an interim how about just adding an "In progress" state. I see this has been around for a while and I'm using VSO online. IMO this is a showstopper for both Scrum and Kanban if you can't tell what work is currently in progress.
