Why VS became do-it-yourself kit? MS was sold to Ikea?

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

            >Just give me a real UI or bring back VS200X!
No. ZOG decided all must become imbeciles, and that's why all will work in square-clustered monochrome indistinguishable ui.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

When will be available service pack with restored icons?

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

Is this new style (especially icons) for monochrome paper-printing, with skimp of ink?
In a 21st century with paperless technologies?
MS preparing to zombie apocalypse and all-out technological degradation?

You think, they will fix win8 to became consistent with VS2012?

            www.google.com/search?q=windows+8+explorer&tbm=isch
_Some_ icons are monochrome (if search), but not _all_, like in VS2012.
Where are "consistency with win8", which MS people talking about?

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

Why everyone is talking about "it is all for consistency with win8"?
From the start, VS2012 does NOT have consistency with win8!
            Because win8 doesn't have "all black&white" icons.

It's very girlish - take all these scary and weird technical buttons, switches, indicators, and throw them away, or at least cover up with lacy doily. What do guys say, they understand it and use it for work? Actually, they just show off and boast!

Macintosh icons eventually became full-color after ~15 years. Are MS going to repeat evolution of Macintosh, and we must wait same 15 years till UI come back into sanity?

Some r******d Macintosh1984-f**s are trashing our VS.

forums distract you from writing code, so must be indistinguishable
            >What the heck is going on?
microsoft cares that you write, write, write code. Not look at icons, not read forums - just write more code.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

            Visual Studio team,
please write in top message, that theme editor contains _ready-to-use_ vs2010 theme (no need to spend hours customizing, just switch).
Many people don't know, and continue to discuss as if UI has only black/white themes.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

Adding option of 2010 icons for solution explorer/intellisense/etc solves the problem.
Menu/toolbars can remain to be "metro", if this is so important for "corporate style" or something.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

            >I know how hard it can be to come up with representative icons
Completely NOT hard, because they already was there. All that was need - just don't touch.

Kayson Wong>a workaround to get the icons from VS 2010 to 2012
this works, but restores only icons in menu/toolbars, when need solution explorer and intellisense

            >I need to know if I can keep developing on .Net, or become a Java developer and switch to Eclipse..
Microsoft obviously trying to drive out developers from VS. What is not understandable - why? Is this intraspecies struggle, one political group in MS trying to kill successful project of another group?

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

White theme is too bright and very strain eyes. Need more tranquil background color (in vs2010 is perfect).
Black theme is not usable for people with non-ideal eyesight, bright letters on dark background looks blurry.
No borderlines between zones - what idiot invented this?!
And ICONS - they are indistinguishable, give back normal ones.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

Developing metro app not in normal dev tool but in "metro studio" - is like assembling cross-country vehicle not at a factory but in field in muddy puddle under the rain.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

Microsoft reoriented itself, from skilled developers - to imbeciles from social networks. This design is that they would like. They would pay only $9.99 per copy of something with UI similar to f***book, but there are millions of them.
Such market strategy is at least understandable. But why not leave an option of manually improve this horrendous UI, for those who are not from a "new prioritized customer" category?

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

            >They are not as important because when I start typing 'new' in the quick launch my options are suddenly recuced
Main menu is not important. It is only several dozens items on constant places. Important are solution explorer with 100500 items, changing every day. Also intellisense, search results, and other user data.

Of course, this has meaning only for those who work with projects more complex than hello-world.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

These bright (as 1000 suns) white edges and almost-no-visible separation lines between zones very strain eyes. Can't work longer than 20min.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

            >losing market share
Visual studio exists not mainly for profit (it's main role is to promote windows, sql server, etc). Some "effective managers" want to cancel this project (to get bonuses for reduction of costs), and they need to display it as non-popular among users. This is easily achieved by disfigure UI.

            >I cannot work
            it was their goal

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

It definitely was made with intention to drive out users from VS to some other product... But to which?

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

All this is just another example of widespread technological degradation. (It is not only in software engineering, it is also in many other branches of technology). New generation of designers are not such talented, can't maintain what previous generation created, and fall back to primitive (to the level for what they have enough skill). Compete with VS2010-level - nowadays just nobody can, even if want.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

Why these acid-orange monochrome icons? They are ugly. Revert back to 2010's, please.

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

            This is madness

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

Is microsoft trying to filter out "too clever" users, who are able to distinguish buttons one from another, and asking questions instead of silently pay money and eat what feeded?

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

Why intellisense list and solution explorer tree are grayed? These are not "IDE controls".

            exaltingexalting commented  ·

In what direction does technical progress go?
In ancient 2005, out troglodyte ancestors in caves asked MS change 16-color icons to full-color.
            https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/114683/deploy-updated-new-icon-sets-with-visual-studio
Now, after many years passed, customers ask MS to add "some" color to _monocrome_ icons.
