Make "Format document" (Ctrl-K, Ctrl-D) much faster

It takes a lot longer than it should at the moment.

        I use this all the time, and now I notice that it is really slow, which hurts productivity. I use Ctrl-E, Ctrl+D, but I think it is the same as Ctrl+K, Ctrl+D.
