I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Bring Windows 10 Universal Apps to Android and iOS

Create something like what Xamarin is doing in order to help developers to code once and run EVERYWHERE (Wndows 10, windows 10 mobile, android and ios).

If Microsoft could not buy Xamarin, at least do what they are doing by your own. Make something that enable us to archive real NATIVE cross platform development. It could dramatically increase the numbers of developers using .net to create mobile applications as well as increasing the number of apps created to wp too, since app could be compiled to ios, android AND WINDOWS PHONE. Hibrid apps like apache Cordova has a lot of…

  2. Cloud-based iOS emulator instead of remoted iOS simulator for Windows

Windows developers need a free cloud-based iOS emulator instead of current simulator that needs a Macbook.

  4. Allow us to change the navigation bar colour on windows 10 mobile in our apps

With phones that have software buttons, we could apply transparent effects, blur, gradients or just plain colours on our apps. Of course we will give the user a choice to whether or not they would want there own preferences (maybe with a universal toggle in the OS or a toggle within the app we create). This could also be used to represent an event which has happened in the app.

  5. Create first-class HTML5 UI framework for VS Cordova

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/351138/create-first-class-html5-ui-framework-for-vs-cordo.html
There are numerous UI frameworks out there that integrate with Cordova/PhoneGap mobile apps, however, the great majority of them are tailored toward iOS and Android apps. WP/.NET developers do not feel welcome while using these frameworks. I'd like Microsoft to create a UI framework that targets iOS, Android, and WP platforms so .NET developers may create Cordova apps comfortably. At the moment, I'm not sure how WinJS solves this problem. I hope to see UI controls that don't feel like Metro-style widgets but…

  6. add support for ARM64

Recent mobile phones use 64-bit ARM processor and supporting it would benefit mobile app development on Visual Studio.

Cordova-Samples on https://github.com/Microsoft/cordova-samples is a great start, but there needs to be more samples.

    Initial Ideas:
    Understanding Modules Internal, External, Export.
How to use tsconfig.json with external modules.
How to install definitelytyped packages with TSD and tsd.json.
    Basics of requireJS and Cordova.
    Promises and WinJS
How to add front-end packages with Bower.

  10. add Proxy Settings to Windows 10 Mobile Emulators

In a corporate network with a proxy the Windows 10 Mobile Emulators are not able to connect to the internet or local resources because they are not sending the users credentials for authentication with the request. It would be nice to have an option in the Emulator Settings to specify proxy Settings for the Emulator or use the Windows Settings.

  11. Improve the Windows Phone emulators so that they can work within a Hyper-V instance

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/351036/improve-the-windows-phone-emulators-so-that-they-c.html
I currently use Hyper-V for various development environments within my enterprise. One pain point I have building Windows Phone apps is the fact that the emulator uses Hyper-V. This creates an issue when I'm in a Hyper-V instance. There are workarounds as documented at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13148828/unable-to-create-the-virtual-machine, but I shouldn't have to follow a work around for what I would assume is a common scenario (common defined as more than 1% of developers not meaning majority).

    Please vote for me!

  12. xaml on android

I know Microsoft launched means to write JavaScript/html for both windows store and android, called Córdoba. But why is Microsoft forgetting about the developers using xaml/c#???? It would be awesome to be able to use the same xaml on both windows phone and android.

Who wants to own a mac? Just to be able to write apps for osx?

  13. Add the cordova browser platform in TACo (Tools for Apache Cordova)

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/351084/add-the-cordova-browser-platform-in-taco-tools-for.html
I made some good experience, adding the default cordova browser platform and serving the platform/browser/www with gulp and browserSync.

I would be even better, when it would be available from Visual Studio as target, so we don't need ripple anymore.

  14. Add custom GPS location to iOS Emulator

Add a way to enter custom gps location in the emulator settings. Now it only supports the selection of "Null, Apple, City Bicycle Run, City Run, Freeway Drive". This is very convenient to test location based apps. It will be nice if we can select a KML file, but a simple "lat, long" text field should work.

  15. Visual Studio Crossplatform - Support new versions of Android NDK/Android within 1 month of release

We develop games for Windows and consoles thus having support for Android in Visual Studio is great for us. Currently the support does not fit our need unfortunately.
Visual Studio needs to keep up with Android NDK/SDK releases and support new version within a month at most.
Also use what is recommended by Google by default. Currently: Clang 3.8, gradle and soon libc++.
Visual Studio should also be able to use packages already installed by Android Studio and to not require a complete/separate download.

Another aspect that Visual Studio for Android fails short is that android targets cannot be included…

  16. use Android SDK folder "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Android\sdk" instead of ".\ProgramFiles\.."

Please use the standard Android SDK install path "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Android\sdk" instead of installing into ".\ProgramFiles (x86)\Android\android-sdk".

    Thanks!

LiveReload Xamarin So gooood but we also need Edit & Continue (since deployment takes too long)

Focus all your available resoureces on LiveReload to also support Edit & Continue and PRISM (dependency injection)

Forget any XAML designer capabilities.. if we can have this I guess 99% of the devs would be statisfied the coming years ;-)
And I'm a "designer" saying this ;-) ..coming from WPF and UWP, Windows Phone. I know the XAML tooling is better there, but prio is LiveReload supporting…

  20. Add Windows 10 Mobile Emulators that have software buttons

Recently, many of Windows 10 Mobile systems are using 'software' - or overlay - buttons for 'back', 'home' and 'search' functions. But, All of VS2015 Win10M emulators are using the dedicated 'hardware' buttons.
The UI design and implementation techniques are different between two configurations. And, it's hard to prepare the both configuration mobile phones. If VS have software-key emulator or options for using the buttons, it's very useful for all developers.
