        We need a good compiler for C/C++ on Linux. It would be so useful if we could make Windows 10 applications from a Linux computer. WE NEED THIS!

        Monodevelop has already been extended into Visual Studio for Mac - I'm _pretty_ sure this is a trivial task to port over to Linux, as Monodevelop was originally developed for Linux. Some Microsoft engineers might already be running this on their Linux engines.

        Languages other than default C# have to go through an extension. The same extensions that VS Code uses. C languages have been ported to Linux anyways (with still plenty of bugs to fix). What exactly do you think is missing? I can run VS Code on Linux with no issues, so the Enterprise version (which has some different implementations of some functionality/features) should work the same.

        @beer boy

        VS for Mac for Linux is not a big technical challenge. VS for Windows for Linux is... pretty tough, as you say.

        You may get Visual Studio Code but asking for the fully-fledged Visual Studio on Linux with all the native compilation features is a bit much. Asking for .NET support as well is more than just a bit much; Microsoft have been developing .NET for over 10 years. It isn't a quick thing to translate and a lot of things are likely to not even be supported on Linux. .NET relies heavily on Win32 API, and Linux is no where near as complete as Windows is with Win32/NTAPI.

        Dear Microsoft ... We would love a Visual Studio with C# that can compile code that runs on the Raspberry Pi, Beaglebone, Arduino etc .... It will win over the hearts of millions of enthusiasts ... Thank you for giving us a forum to express our point of view!

        Dear Microsoft, please be kind to developers (on unix platforms) and please, please, please make this happen. Whole Silicon Valley is going to love you.
