Better error trapping around VS extensions

There are a number of hangs and crashes that can be attributed to poorly performing or untrapped exceptions in extensions. VS should better handle unresponsive extensions, rather than crashing itself.

Thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion. This item has been around for a couple of versions of Visual Studio and we haven’t acted on it. Looking at the VS “15” plans, we’re not going to take action on this item, so we’re going to close it. If the suggestion is still relevant, please either take a look to see if there’s another suggestion that’s similar that you can vote on, or open a new suggestion.

Adding different extensions quite often results to Visual Studio to crash; e.g. VS2010 Productivity Tools. One good way would be to gracefully manage the exception and disable the extension dynamically. It prevents to Visual Studio to crash and restart again which is really a nuisance.
