I suggest you ...

Add context menu item in solution explorer to open Source Control Explorer showing selected file

When you right-click in VS 2010 Solution Explorer it would be great to have a shortcut there that opens up Source Control Explorer immediately showing the selected file.

Currently a user is required to open Source Control Explorer and manually expand (and know) all the folders in the path to get to the desired location.

As explained in this blog post (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2015/10/08/how-we-use-user-voice-to-make-a-better-product.aspx), we had updated the status of this suggestion to “Under Review” to let you know we are tracking it on our backlog. To better indicate which one we are actively working on or which ones are on our 6-month plan, we introduced the states “Started” and “Planned”. The goal is to give an update on in progress suggestions at least every 3 months. This suggestion is still on our backlog, but they are not part of the 6-month plan.

Gyula Solution Explorer is not necessarily a physical representation of the disk structure. This is very common so Solution Explorer could have a different organisation for files. Additionally you can have linked files (same physical file in multiple projects) for example. There are lots of reasons why this would be extremely handy.

It would be good to know WHY does the user need to get to that location. Can the task that he would like to do not be done in another existing way? Maybe the user is not sure that the already exposed functionality in Visual Studio does exactly what he needs. This suggests checking if the existing VS user interface design is intuitive enough and results in trust from the user.

In addition to this feature I'd also like a keyboard shortcut/context menu while on the Solution Node in Solution Explorer to navigate directly to the path and folder of the solution in Source Control Explorer

How is this not in already?
3 years and this context menu option still doesn't seem to be in for TFS controlled solutions...

it's funny the Team Explorer Everywhere support this feature but the valuable VS2012 IDE did not support this !?

Alternatively or in addition it could be cool if the status bar called "Local Path" in the source control explorer could be changed. Currently it's just a read only link to the file system.

There are often cases where I have the file I want in my clipboard and I want to just focus (navigate) the source control explorer to that path... this is as pasting in the address in the windows explorer.

currently the best way to do this is to keep an instance of vs command prompt open and do the tf properties [your path] command
then copy the output server path and then you can paste that one into the source explorer - cumbersome process really

In VS2010, Source Control Explorer used to open up the way you left it last time. Now it always opens up at the root level. Would be nice to have the old behaviour back.

Agreed this would be very useful. We're hoping to get this one into TFS11. I'll update here if we are able to get it in.
