  1. Bring back the Visual Studio Achievements extension.

    Greetings,

For Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2012 is the achievements extension released. For those who are not familiar with it, I added the links to them below.

Sadly is this extensions nowhere to be found for Visual Studio 2013. It's not a killing extensions but it sure adds a lot of fun between developers in a company or for students on Facebook. I personally think that it is improving the working environment.

It would be nice to have this extensions continued or open sourced so the community can work on it.

    Extension for 2012: …

We considered this seriously, and went back to find the old code – but after further investigation, we think it’s time to retire this old extension gracefully. We love the idea of challenges that encourage developers to try out new features in Visual Studio – but rather than bringing back what we had, we’ll probably try something a little different next time. Thanks so much for the great idea!

Thank you for your feedback on this idea. Unfortunately, we do not plan to update the MSSCCI provider to support VS 2015 or VS 2017 without having Team Explorer 2013 installed. We will evaluate MSSCCI support for the next major version after VS 2017.

  3. Non-modal UI for Extensions and Updates download and install

When downloading an extension (say VS Web Essentials), Visual Studio IDE is completely blocked. Why should I have to watch through the progress of the extension download progress bar? Please make this non-modal.

Unfortunately this activity is more invasive than it looks at first glance. Installing extensions is designed to be quick, but also requires Visual Studio to be restarted because of the way that extensions are so tightly integrated into the core product. We’re continuing to work on improvements to both the UI and the performance of extensions, including background update of extensions and the new Visual Studio Marketplace, which should make it easier to browse and update without impeding your work.

Thanks for your feedback, and apologies that we’re not able to resolve this favorably at this time.

Best wishes, Tim Sneath | Visual Studio Team

Unfortunately the work to bring this back as an extension or an open source project would be prohibitive. As we’re not investing more deeply in this space at this time, we’re declining this suggestion for now. Sorry - and thanks for the feature suggestion.

  5. Provide Identity and Access Tool support for Visual Studio 2013

Currently, the Identity and Access tool used in Windows Identity Foundation only supports Visual Studio 2012. http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/e21bf653-dfe1-4d81-b3d3-795cb104066e However, developers who have since migrated to using Visual Studio 2013 are no longer able to utilize this very useful extension, therefore, it should be updated to support the latest version of the Visual Studio IDE.

Hi, thanks so much for your feedback. The Identity & Access tool was shipped out of band as a VSIX in VS2012 given that the timelines did not allow to integrate it in VS2012 itself.

In VS2013 we added support for claims-based identity directly into the ASP.NET project creation experience (see http://blogs.technet.com/b/ad/archive/2013/06/26/improved-windows-azure-active-directory-integration-with-asp-net-amp-visual-studio.aspx). Furthermore, we announced plans earlier this year to merge ACS into Azure AD: http://blogs.technet.com/b/ad/archive/2015/02/12/the-future-of-azure-acs-is-azure-active-directory.aspx and this new feature set is now supported pervasively across the IDE, including new project templates, connected system wizards for reentrancy, keychain for sharing tokens etc.

Hope this is helpful, and thank you again for your feedback for Visual Studio,

Tim Sneath | Visual Studio Team

As per Eran’s comment, the UI Automation capabilities allow you to create support for common UI programming frameworks without further add-ons. We developed an Excel sample to demonstrate how you can create a wrapper for a specific application, but we aren’t creating wrappers for all the Office products at this time. Thanks for your feedback! Tim Sneath | Visual Studio Team

  7. Support for qbasic

It would be cool if we can add qbasic programming in visual studio.

    "consol.qbasic"

  8. Spell checker for comments

I would be nice to have a spell checker for the comments of the functions, variables, classes etc, a dictionary like Microsoft Office.

  13. Please include the visual studio sdk into the visual studio installer and build more language for the sdk

My english is not very well.
As we know, the visual studio has kinds of language versions. But the sdk only has the english version. I hope when we install the visual studio, we can also select to install the sdk which language is the same with the visual studio.
Best thanks for the visual studio developers, it is a powerful IDE.
