There's no way i can stash my changes in Visual studio tools for git or any third party Git tools like mSysGit. Its great to support it.

We’re happy to announce that your suggestion is now available in VS2017 Update 5 Preview 1.

Visual Studio now treats Git submodules like normal repos. Just add them to your list of Local Repositories and get coding! You can open a submodule, make changes, and commit. However, you cannot yet do any action that requires multiple repos to be open at once (such as viewing a file in the parent repo and a file in the submodule at the same time). In the meantime, you’ll have to switch between the parent repo and submodule, or work with multiple instances of VS.

For multiple-repo support, please vote on this request for multi-repo support.

        • Add support for Git over ssh in Team Explorer

Add support for ssh transport when syncing with Git repositories. libgit2 has ssh support now, so this should be fairly straightforward.

After soliciting feedback from the followers of this request, we’ve decided to break this request into two parts. The first part, as indicated by the early comments below, addresses the issue with setting `pull.rebase` in the gitconfig and having VS respect the configuration during pull and sync. VS2015 used libgit2 and therefore did not respect the gitconfig; VS2017 uses git.exe and respects your gitconfig. Additionally, in VS2017 Update 5 Preview 1, we’ve exposed `pull.rebase` settings in Global and Repository Settings. Learn more about configuring pull.rebase.

The second part of this request is to expose pull —rebase on demand. Some users only rebase on occasion and would like `pull —rebase` adjacent to vanilla `pull`. In order to accurately prioritize this request, we ask that you vote on this UserVoice item (you can remove your votes from this item and add them to the new one).

              • Prune when fetching the repo

The description has been modified by the admin.

When branches are deleted on the server, I still see the deleted branches locally in Visual Studio. I would like for VS to show only branches that exist on the server. To achieve this behavior, I would like VS to prune my branches when fetching.

We are happy to let you know that your suggestion is now available in VS2017 Update 5 Preview 1.

After soliciting feedback from the supporters and followers of this feature request, we decided to expose the fetch.prune gitconfig setting in Global and Repository Settings. By configuring this setting, Git will prune branches on every fetch. Having global and repo settings were far more requested than having a per fetch option to prune, as it is generally best practice to prune on every fetch. We recognize that some of you may still wish to have a per fetch option to prune; we request that you vote on this request for pruning on a per fetch basis.

                • Support the ability to push Git Tags to remote

It's now possible to create Git tags in VS2015.
However, these are local tags, and can't be pushed to the remote server.
One has to use the git command line: git push --tags
Would it be possible to get this push command from within Visual Studio?

                  • Add git worktree support

Git added the ability have multiple working trees for a single repository.
                    https://git-scm.com/docs/git-worktree
When opening a solution from a linked working tree, Visual Studio does not detect as being part of the repository, which deactivate the git features in Visual Studio.

Visual Studio should be able support solutions which are in a linked working tree.

                    • Add git support for CodeLens

I've been using the VS2013 preview for a few weeks now, and love it. CodeLens stuff is really really cool, but some of the lenses only work with TFS as the version control. Adding the ability for these CodeLenses (author, commits) to work with other VCS (git first please!) would be excellent!

                      • Create practical guidance on Agile Portfolio Management with TFS 2013 and beyond.

Create focused and "crisp" guidance around agile portfoilio management, team projects and teams, to complement the TFS Planning Guide (www.vsarplanningguide.codeplex.com) and capturing dogfood findings by the ALM Rangers and from the field.

                        • As a TFS Administrator, I would like to extract permission reports to audit purposes

This is a common request, mainly in Banks, Government and large corporations with audit sector. Often I'm asked how to extract reports showing TFS Users and what access level they have.

                          Something like:

                          User: Andre Dias
                          Access to:
Project Level -> Delete team project, View project-level information
Build Level -> Administer build permissions, Edit build quality
Version Control -> Check out, Check in

A access level matrix would be fantastic.

                          • Git VS Integration - Add support for other 'remotes'

The Git extension for Visual Studio 2012 should add the ability to push and pull to remotes other than 'origin'.
It should also add the ability to set-up tracking branches of remotes.

Currently Team Explorer only allows cloning git team repositories from https and whenever cloning using ssh does not associate the team project with the repository.

Please allow us to clone repositories using ssh urls when connecting to a VSTS/TFS team project in Team explorer

                                  • Create short guidance on the differences between VSO, On-premise TFS, and TFS on Azure IAAS

Teams new to TFS (or moving IT to cloud) constantly struggle when trying to decide between Visual Studio Online and on-premise TFS. With TFS on Azure IAAS also as an option, the decision is even more difficult. The Rangers could create some short and concise guidance on which one to select.

There is some guidance from Microsoft already out there (http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/compare-visual-studio-products-vs), but it is mostly marketing/licensing fluff and doesn't address the details. What am I really missing with VSO at the technical level? E.g. Can I update a process template?

Note that multiple queries to the Rangers forum…

                                    • let Visual Studio for git supports Visual Studio 2010

Could you support Visual Studio 2010? After all, a lot of developers use this version to develop .net application

                                      We've bought over 20 licenses of vs2010.

                                      Thank you, very very much!
