We’d like your suggestions and ideas to help us continuously improve future releases of Visual Studio, so we’ve partnered with UserVoice, a third-party service, to collect your feedback. Please do not send any novel or patentable ideas, copyrighted materials, samples or demos for which you do not want to grant a license to Microsoft.

This site is for feature suggestions; if you need to file a bug, you can visit our Developer Community website to get started.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Improve project F# model

Improve F# project model (at least, add directions support). Maybe some extension to the language itself would be pretty good: #require "filename" to indicate that filename must be compiled before current file.

      • Support IntelliSense and underlining of errors in F# Interactive

It's a big annoyance to not have auto completion there. C# Interactive from Roslyn supports it, and even the Immediate pane of C# and VB also have it

          • F#: Implement a proper expression evaluator in the Visual Studio Debugger

            https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/351254/f-implement-a-proper-expression-evaluator-in-the-v.html
I think it is disappointing that F# still (in Visual Studio 11) does not have it's own Expression Evaluator in Visual Studio when debugging.

            Simple things are annoying like:
            - not being able to watch, evaluate, or hover over a variable in F# that does not have a valid C# identifier
            - e.g. someBinding'
            - or ``The cool string type identifiers``

            - switching between syntaxes. It may seem sometimes that C# and F# are close enough, but there are some substantial differences. Evaluating…

            • change the behavoiur for double click on double backtick identifiers to select only a single word

              https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/351367/change-the-behavoiur-for-double-click-on-double-ba.html
If I double click on a word I assume the word gets selected and nothing else. This doesn't work inside of double backticks. It always selects the whole identifier since it doesn't understand that the identifier is a sentence and not a single word.
