I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Allow running Windows Phone 8 Emulator on Non Hyper V laptops

Many power Core2Duo laptops could run virtual machines with no pain. It is weird that WP8 emulator runs only on hyper V laptops. We hope you can allow emulator to run on older PCs as it was for WP7.

Thanks for taking the time to share this suggestion. This item has been around for a couple of versions of Visual Studio and we haven’t acted on it. Looking at the VS “15” plans, we’re not going to take action on this item, so we’re going to close it. If the suggestion is still relevant, please either take a look to see if there’s another suggestion that’s similar that you can vote on, or open a new suggestion.

    • Make it possible to intercept calls in Windows Phone API

Android can intercept incoming calls, while WP 7 lacks that feature. One very useful application for this, is to show a warning if you're called by a telemarketer. This sort of app, and the lists of known telemarketers to go with it, is already available for Android in Sweden.

      • allow the Windows Phone emulator to connect a Microsoft Account.

I am not a developer but I want to run the emulator to try out Windows Phone 8. I also want to try out apps available for Windows Phone 8. Sadly I cannot because the Windows Phone emulator can't connect to a Microsoft Account. Not only does that mean no third-party apps, it also means you can't try out People Hub either, a really cool feature of Windows Phone 8.

Please allow the Windows Phone emulator to connect a Microsoft Account.

        • IDE for IPhone Apps or Objective C

I think it is good that visual studio can be a IDE for Iphone apps or Objective C as well.
As this will be very helpful for us and avoid us to buy mac. =D

          • Building cross-platform mobile apps using C# and Visual Studio BUT,WITHOUT XAMRAIN

Building cross-platform mobile apps using C# and Visual Studio BUT NOT WITH XAMRAIN. How it sounds great na. We need IDE to develop Mobile apps for android, iOS and windows phone using c#,VS but not depending on xamrain. The way solution provided for Cordova is just awesome and amazing needed the same solution for C# context too.

            • Asp.net vNext Hybrid application

If one created Asp.net Vnext application that application should work on browsers as well as a native app in Mobile Platforms.

Deployment should allow to deploy into Mobile Stores as well as to IIS along with Azure

So business can develop and invest on one application development.

After installing the SDK, I can observe that my CPU Frequency in Resource Monitor no longer fluctuates, it stays steady at my CPU's rated speed. Additionally, when I perform any CPU-intensive task, my CPU temp goes to 95 Celsius, whereas it used to stick around 80 Celsius before the…

                • XAML for Xamarin Forms to be consistent with WPF/UWP XAML so that we have one XAML standard

When Xamarin started Xamarin Forms, I am sure they didn't want to confuse Xaml developers with similar syntax they use in WPF/Silverlight/UWP and started renaming controls like TextBox in WPF/Silverlight/UWP to Entry in Xamarin Forms.

Now that Xamarin is part of Microsoft, we should stick to one standard XAML so that, we can use XAML designers like Blend or similar tools, to drag drop controls, attach behaviours and triggers visually.

Ideally, we design UWP app, and we get iOS and Android apps with no code change.

                  • Access windows Phone API for SMS and make a call direct by code

I would like to suggest that by c# code we get direct access on Win Phone API to send sms, make a phone call, direct by C# code without open the sms screen, for example. In windows mobile 6.5 I can send a sms using only 2 lines. So, in Win Phone I need use Tasks APIs to build a code for send SMS and pass the object to the SMS Screen.
This example could be apply to the others APIs.

                    • iOS and OSX support

We're fighting a loosing battle when trying to port applications to iOS and OSX. How about helping some ppl out there that are already trying to allow cross platform support (Xamarin?). Even if it's just silverlight. I'm not sure if this is just a restriction from Apple's side... but it makes it very difficult to build consumer based applications in WPF when many of our customers are running apple products. Telling them to install windows as a virtual machine also doesn't make things that much easier (and cannot be done on iOS).

It would be great if Visual Studio natively supported Mono* projects (Mono for Android and MonoTouch) without having to use Extensions and hack files.

                          • Support Assert.ThrowsException and UITestMethod attribute

                            VS2013Update2(or 3) supports Universal Project. It's a wonderful thing.

                            However,
since Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestPlatform.UnitTestFramework.AppContainer.dll is not contained in Windows Phone, we cannot write universal tests.

                            ---

                            • Cordova projects in Visual studio follow different folder structure and flow. Can we keep the folder structure same

By breaking how a normal cordova app folder structure is built using command line as per cordova documentation, it is very difficult to switch from command line to vs and vs to command line. Can we follow what cordova folder structure dictates?

                              • one project type for cordova and Html5/JS(Ts)

                                Hi there

Currently I'm using vs 2013 update 4 + cordova and developing angular.
Problem is debugging (developing) for web and Mobile.

I should copy file between two project, asp.net and Js Project

i can't chose debug on browser or device(simulator) simultaneously when developing cordova and vice versa.
(difference between these two are almost different index file, not talking about publishing)
I Couldn't fount any easy solution for this problem. (i also tried share JS project with no luck)

So just add browser debug option when developing using cordava or any other suitable solution.

                                      • Make windows phone 8 SDK available for windows7 platform

Currently, if we develop the windows phone 8 app, we must have windows8 plateform. But in most enterprises, there're no windows 8 upgraded. Most of them has windows7 platform, but it can only use windows phone SDK 7.1.So if we can extend our SDK to windows7 platform, the mobile biosystem for windows phone will be improved more than now.

Something that would make code more portable for win 7 phones! Other mobile platforms support C++, which makes porting between platforms easier. Look, I'm not espousing love for C++. It's a language with problems, for sure. But for those of us who want to program for multiple platforms, we don't want to have to port between say, C# and Java or, even worse, C# and objective-C. I am aware that there exist C# to objective-C guidelines published by Microsoft, and that Java and C# are relatively easy to port to one another. That's not the point. The point is that…
