I love Microsoft and I love visual studio I like add perl tool in new visual studio and new visual studio express for web
Thanks for your feedback. Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 and later contains syntax highlighting and basic IntelliSense for Perl. See https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/visualstudio/2015/11/30/visual-studio-update-1-rtm/.
Visual Studio Code (https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/languages/overview) also supports Perl.

As of Nov 2014, you can now use VS Community 2013 for this: https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/visual-studio-community-vs. VS Community is a free, extensible edition of Visual Studio which you can use to develop for multiple platforms. It works with any of the available extensions in the VS Gallery: https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/. We’ve seen quite a few users choosing to do their Python development by installing PTVS with this tool.
Visual Studio being immensely popular among Windows developers, you have already extended it to support Android platform, why not support Linux with GCC compilers collections. All you have to do is to invoke GCC compiler, GDB debugger and show it's messages/errors/warnings while compiling. There is not much changes you have to do to accomplish that. Or you can make Visual Studio Code to do that. It does not support compiling in Linux just does browsing. If not make Visual Studio Code compile/debug GCC compilers.1 vote
