I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Release Burndown Chart

In Team Foundation Services Preview there is a very nice Sprint Burndown chart.
What I miss is a Release Burndown. I have a backlog with 100 stories for release 1.5 of my product. I would like to see a v1.5 burndown.
If I place sprints under v1.5 iteration path I can see a 1.5 backlog but the chart to the top right only shows Velocity over sprints. I would like to see 1.5 burndown.

    Thanks,
    Simon

It would be excellent to log in (and connect to Azure) with organizational accounts!

      • Support markdown as an alternative to html for workitems

Markdown is now widely adopted and that would be a more fluid experience when writing workitems.

Having to select text and click on a toolbar to do basic formatting such as bullet points is not really efficient.

Github like support would allow code snippet in Tasks which might prove to be helpful.

        • Tag filters need to work on the Kanban board

I love the tags in update 2 as they help with managing themes in our backlog. However, when I switch the view to the Kanban board I have no tags. Having this feature would enable us to use the kanban board really effectively....without it only small backlogs work. Help!

          • Display the workitem id on the cards of the kanban/scrum board

To associate a checkin with a workitem we use the id of the workitem. Since this is not visible on the cards on the kanban board (that we use to monitor the current ongoing work) the id:s needs to be looked up by clicking the card or using a workitem report within visual studio.
I would be more efficient if I could see the workitem id on cards and backlogs in the board.

            • Provide an option to create team project from web access

As in TFS 2012 administration activities are moved to web access, it would really help people to use one console to create and manage the team projects and its permissions.

              • Help me know what branch I'm working on

We use extensive branching in our software development lifecycle. When I open the same solution on different branches I can't easily tell which branch I'm working on. This often forces me to flip through 2 or 3 windows of VS to find the right branch

                  • Add Check-in policy settings to the Process Template

The check-in policies for TFS are currently not settable in the Process template.

Some policies should be satisfied every time in our organisation (successful build, comment and associatie to workitem).
At the moment we have to (and don't forget) to set these policies manually on each new project.

When in the "Find Changesets" dialog in "Source Control Explorer", it would be nice to have an option to rollback the changeset that was found/searched for. Currently, you have to view history on the solution/folder/file to select the changeset and roll it back.

                      • Replace "Open Command Prompt" with "Open Git Shell" in Team Explorer for Git based repositories

Which should open a PowerShell + Posh-Git console instead of a regular DOS-Shell console. This way it will be easier to work with Git repositories from a command line. Also take a look how "Git Shell" works in "GitHub for Windows" application. We need exactly the same thing which can be opened right from Visual Studio, or even better a PowerShell-based console which would be opened in one of Visual Studio windows (similar to NuGet)

                        • Allow build summary to display code coverage percentage based on lines of code

When code coverage is run as part of a build the percentage displayed in the build summary is calculated based on the number of blocks covered. We would like to be able to configure this to calculate the percentage based on lines of code covered - as we fail the build based on lines of codes covered.

We have to stick with lines of code rather than code blocks for compatibility with other tools we use.

Users need to be able to view PDF, Docx and VSS file extensions without having to download the file first. This would make the Web Access tool in TFS more popular with none programmers

                            • Provide a way to reuse files or folders in TFS source control

Most SCC tools provide a way to reuse files or folders in source control.
Solutions such as SVN externals, ClearCase components, Synergy sub-projects etc.
TFS does not provide such a solution and the only way to manage code reuse is by creating complex branching schemes (which call for even more complex an error prone merging) or complex workspace mappings.

                              • update the default copy workitem function to allow admins set a default and allow users to set if they want copy links and/or attachments.

I suggest you update the default copy workitem function to allow admins set a default and allow users to set if they want copy links and/or attachments. Therefore when the copy workitem box pops up it would have two check boxes that could be defaulted to be checked out not. the check boxes would be two WorkItemLinkCopyFlag options CopyLinks and CopyFiles.

This would allow the copy function to work much better b/c it would avoid that issue of huge linked workitem counts on workitem that have been copied over and over for each new release/sprint.

                                  • Extend Read Only TFS Users to read/edit all work items (or sell new type of CAL)

                                    Hi,

This is more of a request than a question. Our developers are using TFS (all have MSDN), but in order for the whole company to adopt TFS we need other departments such as customer support and QA to be able to view, create and edit Work Items.

At the moment you only allow non-TFS users to create new items and view only items they have created. This is extremely limiting and means that we need a massive number of CALS for TFS which cost $499 each. It is a crazy cost for a user only accessing work items. These…

                                    • On the Kanban Board, hovering over a Story Card pops up a the Task Board tasks for that story

I love the Kanban board view of the stories and I love the task board we work from. But when in a scrum it would be very helpful to have the ability to hover or click on the story card and to see the Task board tasks for that story while staying on the Kanban board. I've attached a mockup to illistrate the idea.

                                      • Service-level agreement (SLA) and Operational-level agreement (OLA) in TFS

TFS requires a fully configurable Service Level Agreement (SLA) module, with support for international time zones. Service Level Triggers define escalation and notification options, which include the pop-up Lync/MSN/Skype Instant messaging, email and even SMS text messages to mobile phones. This would ensure that no call reaches a response or fix deadline without warning being issued to the relevant support staff. In addition, "back-to-back" SLAs must fully supported that monitor the performance of your third-party service providers.

Please consider it for the next release.

                                        • tfs web portal themes dark colors

Add more standard themes to the TFS web portal, especially one with dark background colors like the standard dark theme in Visual Studio.
