I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can vote and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can vote on it.

  1. Keyboard shortcut to Expand the shared steps while executing manual test cases in MTM 2012

I use MTM 2012 regularly for test execution. Generally, the test cases that I execute have several shared steps in it. So, it is little painful to expand each and every shared step using mouse and also this eats up the time if the test case contains more shared steps.

So, if a keyboard shortcut key is implemented to expand the individual shared steps while executing the tests will be really helpful.

    Thanks,

    Inthiyaz

    • Exclude closed Test Cases from Requirement suites in Test Plans

When adding Requirement suites to a Test Plan, exclude closed test cases.

Right now, if I remove them from the Test Suite, they are also removed from the User Story.

        • Export test plan tree between projects and collections in MTM

          In MTM
The test plan tree is non transferrable between projects and collections
The ability to transfer test cases with the test plan they belong to is needed in order to build the test plan tree in another TFS
For example: we have an external company that came to work with us and we wanted to get the test plan tree they built in their TFS
We had to build a special tool to export the test cases
And of coerce we could not export the test plan tree itself
Note: there is an ability to transfer test plans between…

          • Allow Printing Test results

Test results form (ordered) Coded UI Tests are at the moment not printable.
In some cases a printed (pdf) version of it would be fine for exchange with other divisions (or costumers).

A Simple print of the overview or an export to an xls-file would give more flexibility.

            • Allow sorting test results by last run date

I currently have a unit test that fails only when another particular test runs first. The problem is that I have no idea what order my unit tests are running in so I have no way of knowing WHICH test is causing the subsequent failure. If I could sort by last run date, I would know which test ran before the failing test and that would be all I needed.

I tried running my tests through the VSTest.Console.exe to create a trx file so I could see the history, but the console app runs the test in a particular order…

              • return a non-zero exit code if mstest is run but no tests were executed

If I run mstest and specify a test name using the /test parameter, but that test does not exist, mstest still returns an exit code of zero, indicating success.

I would like to request that mstest return a non-zero exit code to indicate a failure.

                Thank you.

                  • Import external timing data into Visual Studio Load Test after a run

It would be really useful to be able to import arbitrary timing data into VS Load Test and display them as part of the counter tree, so that we can:

                    1) Import Perfmon binary or text files from machines which cannot be monitored or logged on to from inside the test environment, for example web service machines which exist at third-party sites or in a different domain.

                    2) Import timings from non-Windows systems, such as network hardware, UNIX, BSD and Linux servers.

                    3) Create and import custom counters from databases (in our case, BizTalk business process timings from the BAM…

                    • Add the ability to run Unit Tests from the Solution Explorer

The new Unit Test Explorer seems great, but would be even nicer if we can just run Unit Tests by selecting Unit Tests from the Solution Explorer. For example:

                      - Right click on a Unit Test within solution explorer and select for example "Run Unit Test" on the Context menu.

                      - Right click on the whole Unit Test class within solution explorer and select for example "Run Unit Tests" on the Context menu.

                      - Right click on the whole Unit Test project within solution explorer and select for example "Run Unit Tests" on the Context menu.

                      I think some third…

Add a Pop up message when expected Result appears
such as "Malfunction was discovered in previous run. Bag No'…." or "there is a workaround…".

This is important when a malfunction was decided not to be repaired in current phase, especially in large testing teams.

                            • Optional Flag for Coded UI Test Builder Adding FrameworkID Search Property

We need to create our Coded UI Maps to be backwards compatible with VS 2012 and VS 2010. When upgrading to VS2013 our solution doesn't change other than adding settings to ask what development environment to properly configure itself for that version of Visual Studio. This design was great because it allows our solution to be backwards compatible. When adding new controls in a CodedUI UIMap we get a new search property 'FrameworkID' which is not backwards compatible because older version of Visual Studios doesn't know of this value.

So I am wondering if we could get an option in…

                                  • Add build numbers manually for environments where Source Control for TFS is not used.

Our project is managed using TFS2010 but code is managed using SVN.
Currently I have to run a fake Build Definition to add a build number in TFS so builds can be assigned to a Test Plan.

I suggest to allow the user to add a build number in MTM manually with a description of what is the desired test areas and also allow the user to link work items to be tested to the build.

                                    • Allow for async TestInitialize method in mstest

Currently, having an async TestInitialize method results in an invalid signature exception.

                                      • MStest command line progress

I am running a big mstest suite from the command line that takes about 15 minutes to complete. Once started the output to the command window is as below...

Microsoft (R) Test Execution Command Line Tool Version 10.0.30319.1

                                        Loading SetupTestRun.testrunconfig...
                                        Loading Test.BusinessLibrary\All.orderedtest...
                                        Starting execution...

It remains like this until the test finishes and then dumps all the results to the screen in one big batch. Is there anyway to get a running progress of the tests to the command window so I can see a) how far it has progressed and b) what…

                                        • Capture frame or video from USB webcam.

Sometimes when testing devices such as mobile phones, tablets, GPS devices, TV's, Saterlite decoders, you require to attach a image of the problem. By allowing a frame capture or even video from webcam will help a lot for non Microsoft PC devices and broaden the market that MTM2010 can be applied to.
