Editor support for italics fonts syntax highlighting
The VS editor should support italics for syntax highlighting.
Why bold, but not italics?

It's almost 5 years later, and Visual Studio does not have an italics checkbox. The 'lesser' VSCode has this functionality, and yet your ~fully fledged~ programming IDE does not. Incredible!

At this point, Visual Studio Code has this, while the latest VS 2017 RC does not... which is (to me) crazy.
Would it be worth it to develop an extension? Maybe... if only to prove out that people want this.
I have used other users and italic font looks great and there is way to differentiate the things. Please please allow people to use italic fonts in visual studio.

I agree, being vision-impaired, bolded white text looks little different from normal white text on a dark-theme background. That, or adopt a dimmer unhighlighted color, as some lists provide, such as method lists between partial class form files (methods declared in other partial forms other than the current are dim). But the minor contrasts of event lists for a control is the the absolute worst.
Microsoft had the Consolas font specifically designed to please programmers with its italics.
In contrast to all other fixed-width fonts where the italics are just the normal characters bent to the side, Consolas has a real ornamental italic.
Now that Microsoft already invested money in the design of Consolas italic, why don't they support it in their code editors?
I would love to use it for code comments.
I dont understand what the big deal is. Why dont they just add support for this already. It should be relatively trivial to add support for this.
Add option for Italic font in Fonts and Colors dialog (11 votes)
In Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview C++ parameters are now displayed italic, however there is no way to disable this. On the other hand I would like my comments to be italic. On the dialog only a checkbox for bold is found. Please add a checkbox for italic.
