I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

        • Preserve breakpoint hit-counts when debugging stops

When a conditional BP is hit with a "Hit Count" clause, it shows the number of times that BP has been hit. You can also get that count while the debuggee is running from the tooltip (hovering over the conditional breakpoint shows you the condition with the current hit count). However, when then debugging session ends, those hit counts are lost. That's valuable information. I would like to preserve those hit-counts so I could them as a cheap way of 'profiling' branches of code.

                • Quick actions are sometimes confusing when editing C++

Currently, when I "Ctrl+." on a function call inside another function in C++ I get a menu with 3 suggestions:
                  1. Change Signature
                  2. Create declaration/definition
                  3. Move definition location

It is confusing because the first item refers the function under cursor, and the last two refer the function I am currently in without any visual separation. Moreover, the second option is useless when the declaration already exists. Need some clearer indication what action applies to.

Maybe don't force half the screen to be invisible by putting the focus of an undo at the 1st or last line on the visible page - it seems this decision was made by someone who doesn't code because you can't see any of the code before or after the line you're undoing or redoing.

                    • Multi-Definition of Member Functions

Currently, when prototyping in a header in C++, you get a grammatical green underline that prompts whether you want to generate the definition outline for that function, but you can only do it one function at a time. Many programmers like to make a complete prototype before writing definitions. It only makes sense to be able to generate an entire definition .cpp file from the contents of the header file, wherein you could finish by writing the definitions.

                      • EventHandler<T> covariance

                        Dear Microsoft,

                        Can we please fix/add this:
                        public delegate void EventHandler<___in___ T>(object sender, T argument);

                        Temporary solution:
                        public delegate void EventHandlerIn<in T>(object sender, T input);

                        Thank you

                          • Encrypt ANY section or entire web config file

There are scenarios where people keep user name or passwords related to any service integration, for any path access inside the web.config file.
These values can be kept under app settings or any other custom sections.

There should be a easy/direct way to encrypt the config files...no matter any section...or even if entire web.config needs to be encrypted.

People should be able to do this with ease and this can be one part that can be integrated during continuous integration

                            • Allow developers to choose to hide build output about skipped projects

Currently skipped projects are indicated as such in the build output
                              e .g.

143>------ Skipped Build: Project: zlib, Configuration: [All] Profile x64 ------
143>Project not selected to build for this solution configuration

However this is not useful when the project is expected to be skipped and frustrating when it's 1 of 142 projects being skipped. It would be great if there was an option for hiding build information about skipped projects.

                              • Provision for multiple download methods for VS 2017

It would be good if you can make an arrangement for downloading the VS other than the web installer method. I know there are a few commands that can be used but it is not very user friendly. Instead I would suggest that you make a GUI for downloading like the webinstaller. The user will select the VS features of her choice and then she will be able to save it in any directory on her computer hard drive.
Also, there should be a provision that if the internet connection breaks for any reason, then the user can resume the…

                                • Merge code coverage of compiler generated methods

When testing async methods, the code coverage reports all these methods separate from implementing class.
This is because the async/await handling is realized by compiler generated sub-classes.
It would be very helpful if the results of these sub-classes would be merged into the implementing class with the original method name.

Another suggestion is focusing the anonymous methods, which is quite similar issue:

                                  • Add the "delete all existing files" option to the Publish screen in .Net Core Console applications

As per this Stackoverflow question https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45689301/visual-studio-2017-net-core-application-publish-to-folder-and-delete-existing, Visual Studio .NET Core Console applications don't support the 'delete all existing files' option when publishing to a folder.

                                    • Don't display an error message when deleting non existing files from project

I think it's unnecessary to display an error message "Error: could not delete..." for already deleted files, this happens when I want do delete files from project and some of them are gone(already deleted)

                                        • Add option to NOT search for solutions in the Team Explorer window

It takes time to search our TFS for solutions when we open the Team Explorer. I'd like an option to NOT search for them. I normally use the MRU on the start page and I don't want the IDS locked up while it searches.
