  2. Stacked Pull Requests

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365762/stacked-pull-requests.html
Add utilities for working on a stack of dependent changes while keeping each diff small enough to easily review.

At other places, this typically takes the form of stacked phabricator diffs as described in https://medium.com/@kurtisnusbaum/stacked-diffs-keeping-phabricator-diffs-small-d9964f4dcfa6 — branches one off another with pull requests open for merging into the next branch up the stack.

Initially a way to mark PRs as dependent in a particular order, e.g. via links, would allow preventing landing in the wrong order.

From there, a "Complete Stack" button would be…

  3. Create VSTS work items from within Slack

Quite often during a conversation in our Slack team room, we'll have an idea for a feature or some other work that is a candidate for a future sprint, and it would very cool if we could create a work item and put it in the backlog for the default team project right from chat.

Add S4B integration so that you can hover over a users icon in a work item etc. and initiate a Skype chat if installed. As per Outlook and other 365 web apps.

  5. Add Service hook for code reviews

WebHooks are really awesome in TFS. The only non-awesome thing about it is that there's only a few possibilities. I'd love to see a hook for code reviews specifically; created/updated/commented/closed/abandoned. Should contain a link to open in visual studio or view the shelf set on in the web view. I'm specifically asking for this in OnPremise, but obviously in Online too.

  6. INSTALL VISUAL STUDIO 2017 IN D DRIVE

VS installs gigs of data on C. Does MS not know what, "Install on drive D" means?

  7. Send Mails in the name of the real sender

Every mail sent through the tfs server (e.g. workitem or query results) comes from the same e-mail. I suggest that you send the work item mail with the from address of the current user.

  9. Query DIscussion Items

We make a lot of use of the discussions area, have emails sent when we are tagged in them. I have not found a way to query to show me items I am tagged in for discussion. This way I can go back and make sure I addressed the discussion items and work on the related items. Sometimes I am not the person that is assigned in the item, so I can not use Assigned To Me.

  10. Add "Like" button in Discussion

Adding a "Like" button in the Discussion area would give readers the ability to quickly acknowledge that a post was read/agreed to without having to type out a response until an update is necessary.

  11. Provide a native way in VSTS to do staged deployment of any new production version of the extension.

We would like to release the extension updates to a handful of accounts first (especially when there are larger/riskier changes) before rolling out the changes broadly.

We would like to push regular updates without requiring any action from the user to upgrade. We would also like to avoid two separate versions of the extension on the Marketplace to avoid any confusion amongst users in terms of which version to use. A native way in VSTS to roll out changes in a staged manner would be very helpful and will allow teams to manage their deployments better.

  12. "Email work item" command should send mails from actual user instead of "Visual Studio Team Services"

We frequently use the “Email work item” command and the related “Email” command with multiple bugs selected. They’re useful commands.

One feedback we’ve heard, though, is that the emails can look like spam because the sender is visualstudioonline / "Visual Studio Team Services". Users often don’t seem to realize a co-worker sent them a message which they might need to respond to, expecting instead that it’s from an automated process. This can cause emails to get ignored.

Would it be possible for the VSO Email commands to instead use the logged on user’s alias for the sender? When you reply…

  13. Like comments

When someone posts a comment and you want to acknowledge it, you have to reply to it. Sometimes its enough to just upvote/like it and that completes the purpose.

  15. Automatically follow bugs/user stories/etc. that I created

If I created a bug/user story/etc, I'd expect to be "Following" it by default instead of having to go explicitly follow all of them individually.

  16. Needs to be easier to find the membership of a required reviewer group

Pull requests for our recently-combined project team require approval from someone in a particular group, but I can neither figure out how to discover the actual membership of that group, nor add that group to an email request for attention sent from the PR.

Aside, these submission categories are terrible.

  17. Provide "preview" mode to be able to read Word, Excel and Visio docs inside VS Online instead of having to download

We should be able to check-in richly-formatted documentation (Word, Visio, etc.) and be able to "preview" it -- just like *md files.

  19. Add Changeset commented on event to Service Hooks

If there was a changeset commented on service hook event you could post a notification to a team chat service when someone comments on a changeset. This would allow a code reviewer to notify the team about a problem in a specific line of code.
The notification would be the comment text with a link back to the changeset page.

  20. Add team member day off as an event that can be pushed to service hooks

We find it helpful to remind our team when someone is going to be off for the day. During sprint planning we communicate when we will be off. We want to leverage that info as a reminder that is connected to Slack (or any other valid service hook.)

As far as I can tell that is not currently an valid event in the API.

    See attached for an example.
