We need a Wiki subscription. I would like to know (and would like me team to know) when a Wiki page as been updated or if a new Wiki page has been added. Very important to the communication and collaboration value of the Wiki

I almost hear 3 feedback items here:
      1) Service hooks to integrate with other tools such as Slack, MSTeams etc.
      - This makes sense.

      2) Simple notifications on page updates
2.1) Ability to follow a page to accomplish (2) i.e get notifications on page updates
      - This resonates with me a lot. I think we need to introduce Follow for a wiki page.

      3) Notifications when anything in the whole Wiki repo is updated. I feel this is a more admin rather than a user level feature .. am I thinking right?

it would be useful if VSTS Wiki would allow to export documents to PDF documents.

Can you please raise a bug @ https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/spaces/21/index.html regarding the issue you are facing with printing a wiki page.

When you export a hierarchy of pages, would you like to export it to PDF or would you expect other formats as well such as HTML, .docx, etc. or that does not matter much.

We have multiple teams and each require their own Wiki and set of permissions - for us it is unacceptable that one team can access the other teams Wiki

Wow, this was great feedback and real quick too. Repo level wiki is something that we will be releasing in the next 2 sprints (fingers crossed). I will update this thread. If I forget then please check my blogs on aka.ms/devopswiki or tweets @sandeepchads. I will be making some noise there for sure :)

This is what I will do after we release the repo level wiki. I will close this feedback item and reopen another one for only team level wiki so that I can free up your user votes. Also, that will help me understand the real need for team level wikis. Hope you are all fine with it.

        • customize "search work items" query

          https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/379592/customize-search-work-items-query.html
The current "search work items" text box (in web access & visual studio) searches for the given text in fixed fields (Title, Description, Repro steps).

However I would like to customize that to add the (in our case) "Description HTML" field. Since our work items still use that field (from previous version of TFS).
Further I could imagine adding an custom TFS field and also be able to default search in that field.

(BTW I know about the possiblities described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc668120.aspx for…

You can search work items using custom fields e.g. I can do a : value and it should work just fine. E.g. I just did a “reason:duplicate” and it showed all the bugs that were resolved as duplicate.

Please let me know whether you are looking at other similar capabilities.

            Thanks

Enable support to embedd graphics made with draw.io likewise available with confluence (atlassian). Store raw data of graphic (in general xml) on backing git repository too and embedd by using for example a specific draw.io tag.

In order to make wiki easy to use for non Technical users it should provide by default wysiwyg editing experience and tools. Users should not need to know anything about markdown or even see it by default. This is paramount if we want to compete with confluence.

                Hi,

In this sprint we enabled side by side edit/preview experience in Wiki. This allows you to write in markdown and preview your content simultaneously.
This is not a complete and comprehensive solution for WYSIWYG but I would like to understand whether this makes your experience a little better?

                • Add dynamic Wiki Content

Enable Containers for dynamic Content in Wiki page, e.g.
                  - Query Results
                  - Work Item Details
                  - Statistics/Graphs based on Query results (e.g. Burndown Chart)
                  - Release/Build lists
                  - User List
                  - News feed
                  - Gallery
                  - etc

This enriches the Wiki very much and makes it a powerful tool for central project documentation and collaboration. As Confluence offers this functionality, it is currently much more powerful than the VSTS Wiki,

There is a broad ask around being able to embed WIT queries. I understand that dynamic content can make the Wiki content a lot more richer and informative.
Can you share some of your specific use cases so that it will help us understand the requirement better?

We are writing our products user documentation in the Wiki. It would be great if we could have some branding header or footer on each rendered page. I don't want to prescribe a certain design for this, but a `.header` and `.footer` filer in a folder that would simply be incorporated in each page would be extremely helpful. Note this should probably be .md content to avoid accidental xss issues :)

It would be great if VSTS wikis had some lightweight "page view" analytics. Something like:
                      - Number of views for each page / month

Search should support EXACT literal matching to help filter out noise on large code bases. e.g. I want to be able to search for "foo bar" and find only cases of that literal string match. Instead what I get are matches to foo, bar and even foo-bar. For common terms or large code bases that is completely useless as there isn't any way to filter it down. I've tried using "" around the text I want as the docs suggest but that still…

                          • Embed existing git repo readme or other markdown content from another repo in wiki

Wiki is a powerful idea for a central documentation store. However, some documentation is more appropriately maintained with the source code. In those cases, it would still be nice to have wiki have up-to-date content in a central location.

A solution would be to embed existing README.md, for example.

As documentation structure in an enterprise environment is much more complex and approval (compliance) is unavoidable, use of provisioned wiki in Azure DevOps becomes too limited.

We would like to suggest the following features to improve the UX of "published code" wikis for all users (also non-developers):

Enable wiki editor for "published code wiki" with same features and functionalities as in provisioned wikis.
Enable commit and pull request flow from the editor (wiki).

                              • Cannot search all work items from Work Items page

You cannot search all work items from the Work Items page. The filters always requires one of the following to be selected:
                                Assigned to Me
                                Following
                                Mentioned
                                My activity
                                Recently updated
                                Recently completed
                                Recently created

There is no option to select <none>. It is impossible to search for a keyword across all work items from this page.

It should be possible to remove that limit, and allow you to search _all_ work items.

                                • See all work items

Add the ability to see _all_ work items, ideally in a paginated list. Standard filter options should be available, eg, to filter by text search, assign to me, assign to <another-person>, by sprint, byt work item type, etc.

Too often I create a new work item, forget to assign the correct sprint, or assignee, and then have difficulty finding the work item again.

The new Work Items screen is a step in the right direction, but always has an implicit Assigned To Me filter that can't be disabled.

                                  • Extend Code Search to search history

Extend Code Search (2017.2) to search previous versions of files and not just latest, including TFVC changeset comments.

E.g. a certain string is contained in file "x" in version 1, while version 2 (the latest) of the same file hasn't it; while searching for the aforementioned string, i would like file "x" to appear in the results.

                                    • Improve wiki page filter

The filter for wiki pages is not very clever.

For example, if your page name is "Categories: Books" and your search term is "Categories Books", no pages are displayed.

A bit more work on this filter would be great, because it's problematic when users cannot find a page for such a simple reason.

I understand where the confusion may be. Currently the wiki filter only performs a title search and does not perform a subtext match etc. These capabilities are available in wiki search that you can reach by clicking on the magnifying lens at the top.

                                        Thanks

                                      • Tabbed search

We often need to search multiple search strings when investigation/researching code. Having to open a brand new VSTS tab makes the whole experience heavy. Instead, what if search has a tabbed ui where users can create any number of tabs. Each tab would have a different search result set.

Please provide us an ability to open work items from a search - it is only possible to view them (right/bottom), but it is not possible to open it when I switch off the preview pane.

                                          Thanks
