We need a Wiki subscription. I would like to know (and would like me team to know) when a Wiki page as been updated or if a new Wiki page has been added. Very important to the communication and collaboration value of the Wiki

I almost hear 3 feedback items here:
    1) Service hooks to integrate with other tools such as Slack, MSTeams etc.
    - This makes sense.

    2) Simple notifications on page updates
2.1) Ability to follow a page to accomplish (2) i.e get notifications on page updates
    - This resonates with me a lot. I think we need to introduce Follow for a wiki page.

    3) Notifications when anything in the whole Wiki repo is updated. I feel this is a more admin rather than a user level feature .. am I thinking right?

  2. Wiki - mermaid & plantuml support

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365751/wiki-mermaid-plantuml-support.html
    Love the wiki functionality.

It would be great to get support built-in or via user extensions for mermaid (https://mermaidjs.github.io/) and plantuml (https://github.com/plantuml/plantuml).

it would be useful if VSTS Wiki would allow to export documents to PDF documents.

Can you please raise a bug @ https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/spaces/21/index.html regarding the issue you are facing with printing a wiki page.

When you export a hierarchy of pages, would you like to export it to PDF or would you expect other formats as well such as HTML, .docx, etc. or that does not matter much.

We have multiple teams and each require their own Wiki and set of permissions - for us it is unacceptable that one team can access the other teams Wiki

Wow, this was great feedback and real quick too. Repo level wiki is something that we will be releasing in the next 2 sprints (fingers crossed). I will update this thread. If I forget then please check my blogs on aka.ms/devopswiki or tweets @sandeepchads. I will be making some noise there for sure :)

This is what I will do after we release the repo level wiki. I will close this feedback item and reopen another one for only team level wiki so that I can free up your user votes. Also, that will help me understand the real need for team level wikis. Hope you are all fine with it.

  7. Pull Requests for Wiki

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365737/pull-requests-for-wiki.html
The built in Wiki functionality is great, and allows team to easily share code.

One feature that my team feels is missing is the ability to easily create a branch off the wikiMaster, make changes, then submit a Pull Request for those changes in VSTS. This functionality would allow changes to wiki content to be gated / reviewed in a similar manner to how Pull Requests are used for code changes.

If this is not easily do-able, then exposing the {projectName}.wiki git repository…

The pull request workflow is available with Code Wiki. You can create a branch, edit, create PRs and moderate content that goes to Master branch. Is there something else that is required to be able to create PRs for Wiki? If not, then I will close this as completed.

  8. Wiki: Enable support to embedd graphics made with draw.io

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/379598/wiki-enable-support-to-embedd-graphics-made-with-d.html
Enable support to embedd graphics made with draw.io likewise available with confluence (atlassian). Store raw data of graphic (in general xml) on backing git repository too and embedd by using for example a specific draw.io tag.

  9. Wysiwyg editing in Wiki

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/379602/wysiwyg-editing-in-wiki.html
In order to make wiki easy to use for non Technical users it should provide by default wysiwyg editing experience and tools. Users should not need to know anything about markdown or even see it by default. This is paramount if we want to compete with confluence.

    Hi,

In this sprint we enabled side by side edit/preview experience in Wiki. This allows you to write in markdown and preview your content simultaneously.
This is not a complete and comprehensive solution for WYSIWYG but I would like to understand whether this makes your experience a little better?

Learn more about side by side preview in Wiki:

  12. Enhance Markdown Support in Wiki

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365696/enhance-markdown-support-in-wiki.html
The new Wiki functionality is great. However, the markdown rendering should be enhanced to support more features such as:
    * render HTML in the markdown
    * underlining text
    * indenting text / paragraphs
    * allows lists / multi-line values in table

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365699/wiki-per-pagearticle-permissions.html
Be able to manage permissions per page or setup separate areas/workspaces that could be restricted from specific permission groups.

For example: if we had a "management" page/area that other users shouldn't be able to read.

  16. Add dynamic Wiki Content

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/379611/add-dynamic-wiki-content.html
Enable Containers for dynamic Content in Wiki page, e.g.
    - Query Results
    - Work Item Details
    - Statistics/Graphs based on Query results (e.g. Burndown Chart)
    - Release/Build lists
    - User List
    - News feed
    - Gallery
    - etc

This enriches the Wiki very much and makes it a powerful tool for central project documentation and collaboration. As Confluence offers this functionality, it is currently much more powerful than the VSTS Wiki,

There is a broad ask around being able to embed WIT queries. I understand that dynamic content can make the Wiki content a lot more richer and informative.
Can you share some of your specific use cases so that it will help us understand the requirement better?

  19. Allow for branding of Wiki pages with a .header or .footer definition

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/379606/allow-for-branding-of-wiki-pages-with-a-header-or.html
We are writing our products user documentation in the Wiki. It would be great if we could have some branding header or footer on each rendered page. I don't want to prescribe a certain design for this, but a `.header` and `.footer` filer in a folder that would simply be incorporated in each page would be extremely helpful. Note this should probably be .md content to avoid accidental xss issues :)

  20. Subscribe to changes on a wiki, notify team members about a wiki, add comment/review track to a specific section

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365880/subscribe-to-changes-on-a-wiki-notify-team-members.html
The Atlassian Confluence features: Subscribe to changes on a wiki, notify team members about a wiki, add comment/review track to a specific section, are sorely missed.

As a side note, I did a semi-usable workaround for the first part: I went to the wiki git repo, made a new branch with a random change, then made a pull-request from master to the new branch. I can now add people as reviewers on this pull-request, and the will be notified whenever there are changes…
