  2. Unshelve across branches

Commonly write some code in one branch and then have to defer the feature/fix to another release. Need to be able to shelve the changes and retreive them to the other branch. This needs to be supported in the UI.

As explained in this blog post (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2015/10/08/how-we-use-user-voice-to-make-a-better-product.aspx), we had updated the status of this suggestion to “Under Review” to let you know we are tracking it on our backlog. To better indicate which one we are actively working on or which ones are on our 6-month plan, we introduced the states “Started” and “Planned”. The goal is to give an update on in progress suggestions at least every 3 months. This suggestion is still on our backlog, but they are not part of the 6-month plan.

  3. Be able to copy a task to other environments

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365597/be-able-to-copy-a-task-to-other-environments.html
When you already have a number of environments setup you may need to add a new task. Once you have created it in one environment you must then manually recreate it the others.

It would be useful if there was an option to copy a task to some or all other environments.

  4. Bring back tree view to Queries

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/366004/bring-back-tree-view-to-queries.html
Bring back the query left pane. The new query experience "streamlines" the queries by removing left pane and forcing you to favorite queries for easier access. What I previously accomplished in one click I now I have to perform multiple clicks and type into a filter. This is the opposite of streamlining.

We are currently exploring ways we can improve the navigation experience of Queries based on all the feedback we have received. Several User Voice tickets have been merged so that we can consolidate your comments and provide a single channel for communication.

For more information and to continue to contribute to the discussion, check out the Developer Community ticket (https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/275510/i-am-unable-to-disable-the-new-query-dogfood-setti.html) and Blog Post (https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/devops/2018/06/18/queries-hub-updates-generally-available/) on the changes.

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365662/allow-area-path-filtering-on-kanban-board.html
To better support portfolio management, a top level team that has visibility of work items across sub areas/teams needs the ability to quickly filter by "Area Path" on the Kanban board.

  6. Board Column field shows the wrong value

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365527/board-column-field-shows-the-wrong-value.html
My team has noticed that the Board Column field will be populated with what we would consider to be the wrong value. Upon further research and going contacting Microsoft directly we got a response of "We have chosen to use the shortest path algorithm to determine which team owns that item and subsequently which team updates the board columns". This is a problematic implementation as a lot of our TFS Projects have a project level team that includes all the area paths in…

  7. Persist the last view of the Query Results in VS (Horizontal/Vertical)

Working on Visual Studio, when you open a work item query, the results window shows its contents in the horizontal split view. If we prefer the vertical split view, we have to change it every time we open the window. Team explorer should have a way to configure this behavior. The same happens for folder/flat view in pending changes window.

  8. Add the content of e-mails sent from a work item details to the work item's history.

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365462/add-the-content-of-e-mails-sent-from-a-work-item-d.html
As a person managing work items within TFS, it would be very helpful if when I send an e-mail from a specific work item's detail view the content of that e-mail was attached to the work item history. This would be HUGE for the purposes of creating a paper trail for use as "evidence" when reviewing communication history on a work item.

  9. Integrate TFS with SAP Solutions Manager

Several shops have been developing/using SAP solutions for many years; Customers with a hybrid environment have a little bit of "everything" (Java, .NET, Cobol, SAP, etc.); If TFS wants to become a enterprise class ALM solution it is necessary to consider the integration with other "worlds".

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365774/improve-text-formatting-for-work-item-description.html
Either add more formatting options like code snippet or quote, headers, and colors, or add some kind of markdown support.

As a developer I need to be able to write a well organized description. A really big part of that is being able to include system and code keywords or entire snippets in fixed width font. Visually this is required to make the text stand out. Same does for headers (even h2 or h3 would be helpful) and colors (red is often used…

  12. Make Reporting in TFS Fast and Fluid

Make Reporting in TFS Fast and Fluid

Using Analysis Services and Reporting Services may have seemed like a good idea back in 2003 when you first started designing TFS 2005, however in 2012 these technologies are archaic and difficult to use.

Throw out SSRS and SSAS, heck in TFS 2012 in the new Web Access the team already created a new reporting system for burndowns and for the kanban reports.

Now for TFS 2015 it's time to make reporting EASY for non developers, EASY for managers, and fast and fluid for general end users to design and change.

    Look at…

  13. Add Epic and Feature into Column Options to ease backlog prioritization

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365742/add-epic-and-feature-into-column-options-to-ease-b.html
When prioritizing PBI's in product backlog, its difficult to see under which Feature/Epic certain PBI belong to. This could be solved by adding Epic and Feature as Backlog Column Options. I assume this would be pretty straight forward thing to do as Feature -information is already stored with each PBI as "Parent". If that information would be available as column option, there's no need to open each and every PBI to see it and that makes prioritization easier.

    Yes, I'm aware there is…

  14. Increase the hosted build agent size limit from 10GB

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365616/increase-the-hosted-build-agent-size-limit-from-10.html
Currently you can only use the hosted build if your build + repository is less than 10GB. Even with a shallow fetch our repository is near 10GB and then we run into issues while building.

  17. Send backup notification to non TFS Admin users

In my environment, the TFS Admin users don't have mailboxes. I'm probably not the only one, since Admin accounts should only be used for Administrative tasks. In the Scheduled Backups I can only configure that TFS Admin users receive notifications if a backup fails or succeeds. Not a regular (mail enabled) user.
It would be very nice if I could select different users for receiving backup alerts. Now I have to use a scheduled script that sends the Full_... log every day to me...

  20. Add PowerShellGet support for PackageManagement

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365613/add-powershellget-support-for-packagemanagement.html
Supporting PowerShellGet would allow us to write the following in PowerShell.

    Install-Module -Name "My.VSTS.Module"

By allowing VSTS to support PowerShellGet, our company can then build our own "internal PowerShellGallery" to share PowerShell scripts across the company.

We’re working with the PowerShellGet team now to improve the PowerShellGet client’s support for authenticated feeds. Once that work is completed, we’re also looking into supporting PowerShell modules as a native package type in Package Management (with the correct icon, metadata, download instructions, etc.)
