  1. Allow impediments to be viewable next to their respective tasks within the Board page.

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365398/allow-impediments-to-be-viewable-next-to-their-res.html
Up until a few weeks ago, we had been using the Urban Turtle extension for TFS, which was much easier to work with than the base web interface. I love the new TFS web interface, however, there is no way to view impediments to a task (no easy way). If an associate is waiting on something in order to complete their task, we add an impediment to the task. Urban Turtle then shows that impediment (in yellow) next to the task, so that…

  2. Copy dashobaords between team projects or have dashboard templates

We have multiple projects that should follow the same dashboards, copying them would be easier than replicating them by hand for each project.

  3. Use team fields instead of area paths to support teams

I found this idea has been proposed many times under different names, and everytime got archived for too few votes.
So I will post this again if it this time would get more votes :)
Currently one can separate Team responsibilities only by Area Path. TFS supports specific team field but VSTS does not. Plese have this functionality in VSTS too. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/vsts/work/customize/use-team-fields-instead-area-paths

  5. Allow the ability to prove that a code review was done for a task

I was asked to escalate this from here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/5e9c476d-a728-4505-a310-9614b1c3b06f/how-to-find-a-work-items-code-review-request?forum=tfsworkitemtracking

We are using VS2013 connected to TFS2012.

We are currently being audited as to our development practices. Overall it is going well and we can provide evidence on our processes.

However it seems TFS won't allow us to find a code review for a task.

We use a 1 tier branch, so everything gets committed and released from that. Before a commit a code review request is created. Only when the code review passes…

As explained in this blog post (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2015/10/08/how-we-use-user-voice-to-make-a-better-product.aspx), we had updated the status of this suggestion to “Under Review” to let you know we are tracking it on our backlog. To better indicate which one we are actively working on or which ones are on our 6-month plan, we introduced the states “Started” and “Planned”. The goal is to give an update on in progress suggestions at least every 3 months. This suggestion is still on our backlog, but they are not part of the 6-month plan.

In the history of a single file the branch/rename history is visible by plus-sign on the left.
I would like to have such a feature for complete folders which are branched/renamed.

  7. Library of Variable and Task groups shared between all projects

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365752/library-of-variable-and-task-groups-shared-between.html
We need a library in VSTS to manage and share Variables and Tasks Groups between projects, with one definition of a Variable or a Task Group, and not import/export of a Variable or a Task Group which can become different in each project.

Lot of projects uses common variables and task. And we need to create only on copy of a Variable or Task group to prevent their duplication with importations, and without to go out of VSTS.

    Thanks.

I almost hear 3 feedback items here:
    1) Service hooks to integrate with other tools such as Slack, MSTeams etc.
    - This makes sense.

    2) Simple notifications on page updates
2.1) Ability to follow a page to accomplish (2) i.e get notifications on page updates
    - This resonates with me a lot. I think we need to introduce Follow for a wiki page.

    3) Notifications when anything in the whole Wiki repo is updated. I feel this is a more admin rather than a user level feature .. am I thinking right?

  9. Support markdown as an alternative to html for workitems

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365464/support-markdown-as-an-alternative-to-html-for-wor.html
Markdown is now widely adopted and that would be a more fluid experience when writing workitems.

Having to select text and click on a toolbar to do basic formatting such as bullet points is not really efficient.

Github like support would allow code snippet in Tasks which might prove to be helpful.

  10. Please hide past Iterations from drop down for new items

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365476/please-hide-past-iterations-from-drop-down-for-new.html
I like that Iterations once ended get placed under past, as time goes on a long list grows under the Iteration dropdown. I would like to see either an option to hide past iterations from drop down or make them automatically not be included since it does not make sense to add any work to an Iteration in the past.

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365639/enable-fastforward-merge-from-pullrequest.html
    The opposite of https://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/330519-team-services/suggestions/6073200-no-fastforward-merge-from-pullrequest really.

We'd like an option to allow fast-forward merges for Pull Requests (and even one step further, to automatically rebase the pull request off the destination branch).

We end up merging small changes via Pull Requests (due to branch policies) and this can lead to the number of merge commits getting in the way of the actual commits for no real reason. Our developers rebase off master before creating the PR, so 90% of the time the merge will…

  13. In Team Foundation Service, allow projects to be "public", like GitHub

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365426/in-team-foundation-service-allow-projects-to-be-pu.html
I really like Team Foundation Service, but I keep find I get drawn back to GitHub for Open Source projects.

I realise CodePlex already exists, but they don't have the full TFS facilities (Build etc).

I would like to see the ability to have public projects for our Open Source work.

  14. Allow stakeholders to drag and drop work items

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365539/allow-stakeholders-to-drag-and-drop-work-items.html
Stakeholders can change work item status to move an item across the board. However, dragging and dropping to achieve the same result is not supported for stakeholders. I've been informed by Support that this is by design.

However, we feel very strongly that this makes no sense at all. Our stakeholders are mainly our Product Owners, whose main responsibility in the Agile process is to prioritize product backlog items. Also, the testers in our team get Test tasks assigned, and need to be…

  15. Support querying for "all test cases in a specifed test plan" a.k.a add work item links between test plans, test suites and test cases

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365533/support-querying-for-all-test-cases-in-a-specifed.html
Since TFS 2013 Update 3 test plans and test suites are regular work items, but there are of no practical use in work item queries, as there are no links between them and test cases.

With the links, I could create a query to list all test cases in a specified test plan. In Test hub or MTM I can export such list to email or print to PDF, but there is no way to get it in Excel format, which would I…

  16. better permission management (user interface, identity picker)

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365834/better-permission-management-user-interface-identi.html
Permissions can be assigned at project level. This works very well. A user can see only the project in which he is involved.
But the user can access the User Page and can see all the other users oft the VSTS account.
Also every user can select all other users from the Azure AD in the identity picker of a WorkItem (no matter if the user is in the same project or not).
A customer user should not know our other customers. Also…

  17. Allow deletion of pull requests

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365572/allow-deletion-of-pull-requests.html
Sometimes developers issue pull requests against the wrong branch - especially when using gitflow. This is purely a mistake and the pull request should be deleted and re-issued.

VSO only gives the option to abandon the pull request which leaves them hanging around. They can also be re-activated after abandoning.

When mistakes are made, we just want them deleted.

  18. Centralized Build View & Management

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/365378/centralized-build-view-management.html
Create an interface to centrally view and manage builds for administrators. As an admin that manages builds across team projects, I find it tedious that I have to navigate to each Team Project’s Build Explorer to see current build activity. It makes it even worse that you force each Build Explorer to open in the same VS Window.

Minimally, the interface would be the current Build Explorer without the Team Project filter, thus allowing admins to have a central view of build activity.…
