  1. Support C++ in Visual Studio for Mac

Visual Studio for Mac enables developers to create applications using .NET and C# only.

Visual Studio for Mac should also provide support for C++ development, using compilers available on the system (gcc, Clang, etc.)

    • Add support for referencing project that target multiple TargetFrameworks

      The problem:

In any .NET project, when trying to reference a .NET Core project with multiple targets in project-file, like <TargetFrameworks>netcoreapp2.0;netstandard2.0</TargetFrameworks>, the IDE will not be able to add the project as a reference.

Would seem like a trivial thing to reference the correct output.

It would be useful if this worked when having a project containing EF Core stuff that require multi-targeting for the use of CLI tooling.

      • Internet Information Services (IIS) for Mac

It would be ideal to have pre-defined websites on our localhost using domains and just make code change, compile and test on browser, without need to click on run all the time.

This would simplify mobile development where the web services cannot be attach to a mobile app project directly.

        Thanks

        • I want to create Mac applications with a UI defined in XAML using Visual Studio

Rather than dealing with the XCode way of defining my UI/UX, I want to have full control of the UI/UX using XAML [just like WPF applications on Windows]. Non-portability between MacOS and Windows is totally okay, and possibly preferred (as I'd rather steer clear of the lowest common denominator approaches that has plagued so many previous cross-platform GUI libraries).

          • Swift language/file support? Or an updated guide to C#/.NET for Obj-C/Swift users?

Swift is Open Source now. Any chance of including or porting Swift versions of Xamarin/iOS frameworks? Or support for "binding" or importing existing Swift files as is apparently possible w/Obj-C files? Failing that, update the "C# Primer" and Xamarin tutorials for people who already understand how a 'for' loop works and are familiar w/iOS native development, but who don't want the hassle of learning a 3rd language to accomplish the exact same iOS tasks.

            • VBNet

After choosing a .Net Console Project and selecting VBNet as the language, the resulting Application.vb has 7 blank lines of code and "blic Class Application".

Wiping that and typing in a fresh `Module` results in the editor complaining , "No completion found" and refusing to take the keystrokes to write `End Module`.

              Pasting in:
              Module Module1

              Sub Main()
              Console.WriteLine("Hello World")
              End Sub

              End Module

Results in a corrupt looking 7 line code file, and debugs with the error, "Error MSB4057: The target "Build" does not exist in the project. (MSB4057) (HW-VB)".

In other words, VB.Net does not work. (that's a…

                        • F# File Ordering

The project view in F# does not display the files in the order they are defined in the project file, or provide a way to change this ordering.

This is important because the order of files is important in F#, code can only refer to other code defined in a file "above" it.

The UI should respect the order of files as it is defined in the project file. This includes folders, which can appear before AND after source files.

There should be a keyboard shortcut to move a selected file up or down when the project view has focus.
