        Strongly agree! There is no point to write to system directory, which requires Admin authorization, for VS Mac to run.

        Actually I'd rather see an approach like the Visual Studio 2017 installer, where installs, updates, and additional workloads are installed via an installer App.

        I lost internet access halfway through installation and now I don't know which components are installed and which aren't. In addition I was notified that there was Xamarin Profiler update, but when I went to install it I got this message "Failed to start update installer". A simple, contained, mac-style installer would be great--also, would make uninstall easier.
