    Very important!
    I'd want LightSwitch to be back in a form that generates its data using EF as its data model, and some .NET based UI framework, such as Uno platform or Xamarin.Forms, so we have a generated app that's completely .NET Core and is modifiable using contemporary .NET code.

    The problem with the idea is that it doesn't say that it should render everywhere the same. Xamarin.Forms does this, but you need to touch up each platform separately. Additionally, you would need a custom render for each platform for every control you'd want to create, and there are some essential ones missing, for example RadioButton and CheckBox.

    Looks like iOS and Android have been targeted by Xamarin which has now been made completely free for the community.
    The real important thing left here is making a .NET client for web, thus having a compiler that emits HTML5+CSS3+JavaScript from XAML+C#.

    shimmy commented  ·

    This is now partially achieved with Microsoft acquisition and open-sourcing of Xamarin. Anyway, Xamarin doesn't provide a solution for web browser yet.

    Most important thing I would probably ever want from MS as soon as possible!

    Looks like this has been implemented in the new version.

    Xamarin should also be part of this.

    myList = {1,2,3,4} should be array. It can't be list anyway.
    currently, myList = new[] {1,2,3,4} is an array, it wouldn't make sense to have it as an array.
    I see the array's new[] as redundant and senseless.

    Maybe
    array = []{1,2,3,4} should become array and {1,2,3,4}, still a bit ugly.
    Anyway in general I support the idea of having top-common classes as first-class citizens in language.

    And BTW, regarding the arrays, this is how it's initialized in VB (omitting the new[]).

    This suggestion doesn't get enough attention because C# developers simply aren't aware to this awesome paradise VB offer. I wish this is implemented in C#!

    Great feature I'd love to see.
    As for conflicts, I don't think there is any problem.
    To call an ambiguate method of the interface one has to call the method explicitly via a cast (this already exists in C#):

    public void CallBaseDefaultImplementationOfInterfaceA()
    {
    ((IInterfaceA)base).DefaultMethod();
    }

    Thanks a lot for the feedback. Not only is this happening, it’s also happening in the open! You can follow as we’re making progress on GitHub. You can even participate and help us bringing .NET to Mac OSX and Linux!

    See these posts for more details:

    Well, I don't believe they'll ever do it.
    I think they have to expand it to a HTML5+CSS3+JS generator as well, and implement OOB and clients for Mac, Linux, iOS, Android etc. (i.e. Mono), to make .NET (C#+XAML) the most portable lib in the world, serving web and all other platforms!!

    This bug is not only in TFS, it is valid for the entire code-text editor in every technology.
