This is what I am thinking regarding this feature and wanted to seek your feedback:
          1) You can add a tag such as TOC to add an automated TOC to a wiki page. If the tag is added, it will convert all HTML Tags

or all markdown headers preceded with # , ## etc. to a TOC at the top of the page.

My hypothesis is that 70% of the users would prefer to add a TOC therefore I would argue that we could add TOC to all pages in VSTSWiki by default when they are created so that users are spared to write it in each page.

          2) In that case, users can remove TOC to not show the table of content.

Would love to hear your feedback on this.

Hi, thanks for the great feedback and brainstorming with me. I was also thinking to have TOC as part of the markdown so that if ever (I hope not) you were to migrate from VSTSWiki to another git based wiki (please don't do it ) you still have the TOC with you as long as we ensure that we follow a globally recognizable syntax such as _TOC_ or something similar.

Jan - since you were the only one requested a TOC on the side, I agree it is more functional since you can skim the TOC on the side. I was wondering whether making Wiki UX extensible so that you have the choice to put the TOC on the sidebar as well may help? Though I must say this is just brainstorming. I may create a separate user voice for this :)

You could use an Agentless Phase with the "Invoke REST API" task to do something like this.

For something potentially more fully featured you could take a look at: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=infocaster.webapp-warmup

Work is still ongoing (was delayed due to other priorities) for our plan to bring multiple accounts (collections) backed by the same Azure AD into an organization. We are now looking at 2018 H2 for bringing this to a public preview. I will be able to provide a more precise timeline update around May 2018.

Can you please raise a bug @ https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/spaces/21/index.html regarding the issue you are facing with printing a wiki page.

When you export a hierarchy of pages, would you like to export it to PDF or would you expect other formats as well such as HTML, .docx, etc. or that does not matter much.

The best way to solve this would be to limit the query to include only the areas you want to see grouping on.

@Tugberk I just verified that I am able to trigger a CI by using a "refs/tags/*" branch filter in my VSTS build against a GitHub repository. Please contact me and I can assist you in debugging. daveken@microsoft.com

This should work today. Simply set refs/tags/* or refs/tags/<tagname> in the filters on the CI trigger.

Thanks for that comment, Mihir. From the other comments on the thread, I think people are really voting on two different topics here:

                                1. The ability to recover from disasters, mistakes, and so forth. This is what my previous comment was addressing, since I believed this to be the thrust of this suggestion.

                                2. The ability to export data from VSTS and restore it on-premises.

I would recommend that people voting on that second topic move their votes to this suggestion: https://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/330519-visual-studio-team-services/suggestions/12407493-export-data-from-vs-team-services-to-tfs. It already has 158 votes, and is more clearly focused on the VSTS -> TFS export topic. I'll post something soon on that suggestion regarding why we haven't built an export capability yet.

                                Thanks again,
                                Aaron

Thanks for your feedback. We understand the importance of ensuring that your data is safe and secure. Providing the ability to use backups to recover from errors and corruption is an essential element of our data protection practices. The full description of these practices can be found at http://aka.ms/vsts-security.

We do not currently support self-service restoration of VSTS accounts from backups. However, we do support related scenarios.

                                1. Many operations within VSTS are reversible. For instance, Account deletion (https://docs.microsoft.com/vsts/accounts/delete-your-vsts-account#restore-your-vsts-account) and Work item deletion (https://docs.microsoft.com/vsts/work/backlogs/remove-delete-work-items) perform “soft” deletes, which can be recovered without requiring a backup. Also, all changes to source files under version control are logged so that you can revert to a previous version as needed.

                                2. For those operations which are not reversible or in the case of corruption, accounts can be manually restored from backups by our support team. Reach out to support at https://www.visualstudio.com/team-services/support/. Note that there is no magic – just like restoring TFS databases from backups in the on-premises world, you will lose any changes made since the time of the backup.

Longer term, we plan to make more delete operations “soft” and make recovery self-service. The hope is that this reduces the need for self-service restoration from backup to the point where it is no longer needed except in extreme situations.

Internally we produce Swagger 2.0 for the VSTS REST APIs and this Swagger will be what sources the REST API reference docs when we transition them to docs.microsoft.com in the next month or two. Soon after this transition happens we will make the Swagger available via a public repository.

Great, I can see that the feedback on notifying users is almost divided on this one :) I would agree with this use case though:

“However, if I was SomePerson I would still like to be notified that somebody referenced me on the wiki page so that I’m aware of it. It may prompt me to go review the page to make sure the information supplied is correct, or perhaps I’m not the right person to contact so I would change the page to reference @SomeOtherPerson instead”

But I also understand that notification may be a Priority 2 scenario. THe value of @ mentioning a user so that you can easily access the user details is definitely a higher priority.

                                    Thanks for the great discussion.

@Thieme – regarding your request to support .sql files, we will soon allow many file extensions to be uploaded as attachments. this work is already in progress.

We will also support uploading .HTML files as attachments to Wiki.
