Thanks for the suggestion. We intend to support this in the future, but we are still in the planning process. We will post updates here soon.Dave Kerr commented
It would be great if there was a template for a raw HTML5/JS application. This would essentially be a web project that would have no association to ASP .NET or IIS 'built in', except for the fact that it could be served by IIS.
We would start with an html file and build up only from there. Rather than using Nuget for packages like bootstrap etc, it would be superb to see at least basic support for Bower. Ideally we would be able to load an html page with a bower.json file and Visual Studio would understand how to handle it as a project.
Key features would be:
* No dependencies on IIS or ASP (i.e. no web.config file), leaving the user to choose how to host and configure.
* Bower support.
* Unit test runner integration, for example, the ability to use Jasmine or Mocha to run tests in the Environment.
This would be the client side application. For a server side application I'd love to see a Node.js application template, again with built in support for npm.
The belief behind these projects is that you can use Visual Studio and it's powerful editor and environment for working with simple single page apps or Node servers, and that the code you write and files generated would run happily if checked out onto a Mac or Unix box with a standard editor and tools (node/bower etc).
