Yes, this is annoying. We'll see that this gets fixed in one of the upcoming monthly SSDT releases.

We’ll take a look, Joshka, but this might be by design.

Joshka, I’m currently working with the August release of SSDT for Visual Studio 2015 and am unable to reproduce this issue. If you still see this issue with the latest version of SSDT, please file a support ticket with Microsoft Customer Support Services to get this fixed, but my hope is that you already updated your SSDT version as well and don’t see this issue anymore.

Totally agree, Eric. Tabular Model Explorer would be a great home for a better hierarchy design experience. We'll see when we get to it. Probably not in the short term, though, because of higher priority items on the backlog.

Thanks for the suggestion, Philippe. I added your request to our backlog so that we can consider it the next time we look at improving the Diagram View in SSDT Tabular.

Victor, I would love that too, yet the integration story changed quite a bit from VS shell to VS shell, especially from 2010 to 2013. When the next VS version comes out, we will most likely also have a new SSDT for VS vNext again. But now that SSDT ships every month, the delays between VS and SSDT should no longer be as significant as in the past. We'll see...

Thanks for the suggestion. I added your feedback to our backlog for improving team development. It will be considered when we get to this item. No info on timelines though.

MSBuild support is on the backlog, but there are higher priority items. We are going to re-evaluate the priority again, but I can't make any promises. Anyway, it helps to see a moderately high number of votes here. This is definitely helpful.
