As October 2016 my vb6 Application still rocks...3 years ago I started a migration journey to .net. After one year of hard work I did some performance tests on the parts that I already migrated, results were bad in terms of speed. Therefore I hired a freelance programmer to help me rethinking some algorithms and to make it faster. He did the best he could, for sure, but thereafter when we started to join the different modules, the newly baby .NET App collapsed, it was terribly slow, the .exe was fat. the installation a total mess, etc. So we gave up and put .net on a garbage can (forever), we did not fire the programmer, he still works with us with vb6 of course.
