This request is similar to https://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio-ide/suggestions/6206349-scroll-horizontally-using-shift-mouse-wheel

Until such a time as this feature is added to Visual Studio, I created an extension that adds support for horizontal scrolling while holding the shift key:

This should be a built-in part of Visual Studio.

In the meantime, I created a small extension that adds this capability to VS2017.

    Hopefully it helps someone out.

@NickAllen, thank you so much! Just installed the extension and it works very well so far!

This would make a nice VS add in.

Should ideally work in all views/panes.

Another motivating use case: I use Mads's White Space Visualizer extension, which also removes trailing white space on save.

However for some projects I contribute to I don't want to change white space. It's not currently possible to disable the extension for selected solutions.

Mads, your extension works very well. Thank you. Seems like it should be installed by default.

Support for .md files is a great idea.

Hello everyone and thank you for the feedback. We are actively investigating ways to improve how Visual Studio handles project content. This suggestion falls into that category. Unfortunately, we will not be able to address this feedback for the Visual Studio 2015 release. We will update the community when our plans in this area have gained more clarity.

    Will Buik,
Visual Studio – VS IDE Project and Build Team

Isn't this taken care of with VS2017's .csproj file format now?
