      seems btw, that things are changing in Microsoft - it has recently released MPEG-DASH support at Smooth Streaming SDK 2.5 for Silverlight. Via Silverlight Media Framework (SMF) that is using it I now have MPEG-DASH support in ClipFlair Studio by just referencing the new version of the SDK (2.5) and rebuilding/republishing the project

      if you count in PipeLight plugin (hosts Silverlight, Flash, Unity etc. via Wine in Linux browsers), then Silverlight is pretty much cross-platform

      and it's not only some parts of Silverlight working on MacOS-X, it's most of Silverlight on OS-X. ClipFlair Studio (http://ClipFlair.net) that I'm building on Silverlight runs fine on both Windows and OS-X
