It is time for Microsoft to open source the VB6 programming environment.

There is no prohibition on posting VB6 comments here. VB6 is a Microsoft product, it is still available from Microsoft, the VB6 runtime is included in Windows 10.

VB6 programming is still supported by Microsoft, including Windows 10.
        https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/ms788708.aspx

Microsoft even describe VB6 as 'everyone's favorite'
        http://blogs.windows.com/buildingapps/2015/06/22/getting-ready-for-windows-10-sdks-compatibility-bridges/

And Visual Basic 6 will soon run on ARM processors too, where there is a big advantage in not having the bloated .Net framework.

VBA programming is still part of Office (and AutoCad), despite attempts to replace it with .Net.

Of course, if you object to VB6 comments being posted here the answer is to get Microsoft to either update or open source VB6. When that is done there will be no further reason to post here.

Thank you Microsoft. Now that you are abandoning VB.Net it is important to continue supporting VB6 programming.

Thanks for doing this, Microsoft, but you should do more ...

          - You should allow free downloads of VB6, rather than requiring a paid MSDN subscription.
          - You should update VB6 to the same standard as VBA7
          - You should open source VB6 programming - IDE and language.
          - You should extend VB6 programming - to allow compilation to JavaScript for web and mobiles.

Microsoft have announced VB.Net is now on a slow development track, prior to being abandoned. Microsoft must now allow free download of VB6.

Obvious, simple and costs nothing. Just do it.

Microsoft should do this, what a way forward for VB6 developers to Web and Mobile apps.

This would need to be able to open and compile VB6 code (either directly or by using a conversion utility) otherwise it offers little to VB6 developers.

If you have to rewrite legacy VB6 applications you can find better languages than VBdotNet.
